In Australia it is winter and I have my first child on the way so the record, and especially The Maze, landed perfectly for me.

My wife is due tomorrow with our first girl, so I'm with you on that. Funny, because Hope was released the same week my son was born (hence the avatar) and it was something I listened to often with him to soothe him. So not only am I connecting with the music because it's great, but these past two albums I'll forever associate them with the birth of my two children, which is cool.

Wow congratulations! We are having a girl as well. Should be a shock to the system. Will try to get as much sleep as I can now...

Fuck this album is killing me lately. Entire front half is huge. Can't get enough of the stretch of moth, lead, alien, and sunshine

I took a break from this for the past five or so days.

A break from music listening in general, actually.

Still my favorite record, not only of the year, but of the past several years.

You'll be amazed at how quickly you adjust. My advice: start a bedtime routine at about 6 weeks, including picking a regular bedtime. It helps a lot with sleep training later. Then sleep train as soon as you can, I think the earliest is around 4 months, but for most kids around 5 to 6 months. And don't be afraid to let them cry it out.

Thanks!! Will give it a go. My wife can run on fumes so she will be fine in that department. I just want to be functional so I can lend her a hand.
Edit -- that makes it sound like I expect her to do most of the work haha. Better wording (I think?): so I can pull my weight.

the transition from The Alien to The Sunshine is one of the best I have heard in a really long time, it doesn't just flow flawlessly but the emotion that it evokes at that moment is amazing

If she’s planning to breastfeed (you don’t have to answer that either way, that’s too much info for a stranger on the internet) then don’t worry, she will be doing most of the work! Just get real good, and comfortable at changing diapers, and getting her what she needs (like a snack and/or a glass of water in the middle of the night).

I enjoy brand new, not nearly as much as Manchester so my opinion probably shouldn't be weighed as heavily but I thought A Black Mile was a LOT better than Science Fiction on first listen

Like both. With what's out and still to come I doubt either end up #1.
