The reason i've stayed away from this thread haha.

 

It's extremely arbitrary and ultimately meaningless, but it's fun and an interesting way to see consensus regarding what songs are highlights for people in the thread. I don't know. I guess I get why it annoys people, but I also think it's entirely harmless. I'm very aware of how inconsequential it is, but I'll still do it because it's fun.

 

It's all good I totally get it and i'm not against it, work has just been keeping me really busy lately. Is the voting for all songs in their discography now lol

Idk I just think ranking things incessantly all the time in every imaginable way is...just useless. I barely care about end year rankings anymore let alone a bands entire list of songs

I mean that's fair. I get it. And you're certainly not wrong. I just think it's fun and can be a nice albeit very brief distraction from... things. I'm actually trying to get away from doing it quite as much, but I'll join in if it's a band I really love or if a lot of people are doing it.

I don't know. I don't want to come across as hyper-defensive of ranking, because the critiques are valid. I just find it fun and I love making lists (I make arbitrary lists like, literally almost daily about everything) and so it works for me.

EDIT: Hopefully it's clear that this in response to @sophos34 post a few posts up, haha

 

Being ten pages behind on this thread every day and not being able to find any discussion to take part in because of it is pretty lame but whatev

 

@BoldTitan suggested moving it to the band thread. Maybe we should do that. Leave this one for more substantive album discussion.
