I haven't played in a looooong time and don't plan on doing so anytime soon but I just saw that they're releasing a set based on LotR and I want to see allllll the cards
It looks cool, but it's for a format I'll never play. Everyone come play Lorcana with me when it comes out in August
It’s so funny that I saw somebody posted in here because I downloaded Arena on my iPad and played this week for the first time in years. It was annoying seeing that none of my decks obviously matter anymore but I fooled around on Alchemy. I miss MTG when it was good.
They just banned 3 cards from Standard and changed the rotation to every 3 years instead of 2. Stupid game
This, coupled with an onslaught of product and variants, and shitty gambling tactics like the one ring ensure I won’t be spending any money any time soon.
My brother's collection goes up to Mercadian Masques and is mostly Tempest and Urza blocks, while the only purchases I personally ever made were the ten Deck Builder's Toolkits from 2011's all the way to Core Set 2019, even though I stopped playing in probably around 2016. I don't think I'd ever sell them, or continue collecting (as tempting as the LotR set is), but I just like that it's a pretty neat little time capsule of two separate stretches of Magic: the Gathering cards, and I sometimes wonder what the cost of it would be, if I'm sitting on a gold mine or something. My brother did start collecting all of Tempest but he's missing quite a few rares. There are people in my larger friend group that probably still play, but I don't get along with most of them, whereas in my smaller friend group we're mostly invested in board games at the moment, so it's not really an activity I see myself returning to, at least not anytime soon. I just sometimes get nostalgic anytime I'm in my local comic shop and there are people opening their new packs and stuff.
There are some pricy things from Urza's Block and Tempest, I'd have your brother take a close look at that stuff
I think the only one I actually have is Ancient Tomb and anything else that looked familiar just had similar artwork to something else haha
Wonder if my cards are worth anything haha. Think only ones that might be are some of my angel cards. Got a lot of old ones.
I got into Magic a couple weeks ago, and I am still building my Yuma deck. I've been looking for local events since there are so many game stores in my area and I've been having fun despite never having won with my deck.
I can't remember the last time I played but the latest set looks cool considering it's basically a Redwall set. Might mess around and go to a pre release
