with pioneer announced, do guys think this is the best time to buy shocks? i'm so tempted to buy a playset rn because i feel like it only becomes more expensive
also it’s so hard to keep up with paper standard right now. i feel like oko can get banned any minute
They said they're not gonna make any more announcements before November 18th, so I bet he gets the axe then. Standard is terrible right now, I've been messing around with Brawl on Arena. Even there you can't escape Oko
yeah, i was happy with their decision to up the power level but it appears that a few cards were just too powerful over the others. crazy how expensive standard is rn. green especially. veil of summer is an uncommon and just look at that price oof. reminds me of fatal push a bit, being a card that was playable in a lot of formats
interesting. RTR is basically where I stopped playing, so I'm not familiar with much of anything prior to Ixalan.
Can relate, I auto concede to Oko in Brawl. What's the point in playing if it can just neutralize your Commander right away?
got a good price for an assassin’s trophy set along with a bunch of other cards hate that high when you get a good deal
I'm still trying to make sense of that Elspeth. Its just not a good card. I love the idea of the graveyard ability, but it doesn't even feel worth it.
As an Arena only player, I pretty much agree. It was bad before the FotD ban and it's even worse now with Oko. Brawl limited to once a week events, Historic being purposefully unsupported, and no plans to bring Frontier to Arena just makes it not fun right now, and I say this as someone who did my daily quests every day for like 5 months
The problem with Magic right now is the paper vs. online business. They can’t amend stuff quickly because of how fast one is and how slow the other is. I’ll always be a paper Magic guy because it’s how I unwind with friends or even in a tournament I like the feeling of gamesmanship being with your opponent. I play Arena sometimes but it just moves so fast and paper just can’t adapt the same way. I’m almost in favor of splitting them somehow. Maybe it’s because I’m almost 30 and paper TCGs were such a big part of growing up, I’m nostalgic for it... but I just think that it’s a problem right now. Modern is too expensive even for the above-average player and Standard is almost just as expensive with how often the rotation seem to come now. My Bant midrange deck from War of the Spark is useless now unless I change it to an Oko shell. I just built Jeskai fires and I already feel like Sarkhan is too weak, haha. I don’t know where they went wrong, but I get the feeling that it was introducing so many 3-mana planeswalkers and not realizing their power/potential. I just don’t know how you fix it either.
as someone who started a few years ago with paper, i prefer that too. sadly i had to move and lost my playgroup so im stuck on arena but i do play paper still but it’s way less fun without friends. before rotation i had like 2-3 playable decks and now i have ZERO. i mean i was expecting new archetypes to show up but now it’s just simic or simic with splashes and that’s the reason why certain cards are so expensive right now. wish it would change soon
I like that I don't need to do a whole lot to make things work online. I can make decks that are effective without spending any money.
Some big announcements today. There are gonna be a ton of Commander products next year. I have to work overtime for release weeks and the Ikoria + Commander set that comes with it is gonna be nuts.
