I had tried Xmage a few years ago and had some difficulty with it. I'm sure I'd have an easier time this time around. I'll give it a go this weekend and see how it goes.
"Empty all energy from target player's energy pool. That player cannot gain energy for the rest of the game. If they do, they lose 10 life for each energy gained this way." Problem solved, I should work for them tbh
Hate to toot my own horn but I put on a masterclass in sealed today at the prerelease. 4-0 with a four color value deck, eschewed tribes entirely, just played with a pile of good cards and decent value synergies and I wrecked face. Only drew my bomb once in 10 games too, though that won me a match straight up
energy is still "playable" but it's far less consistent now. the red bans are super shocking, though it makes sense if energy goes down red would be dominant format wide open now
This ban announcement is another reminder of why I can't convince myself to start trying to play again. Stuff gets banned, people say the format will thrive, and then history repeats itself. Banning four cards in standard just seems outrageous. Not sure if there's a better answer, but it makes me wonder who they've got playtesting for standard prior to these cards going to print - never seen this many standard bans this consistently.
they just added a new playtesting division made up of former pros, dominaria is the first set that they were hired to be a part of.
it's enough to literally make the format be all Gift decks and Token decks. They really don't have a grasp on the shit they do.
They should have banned those cards... and scarab god, and anointed procession. then just make everyone have to make new decks with new cards.
This is probably the best news I've heard about the game in quite some time. I sold my entire collection outside of one modern deck and my EDH decks as time just wasn't permitting me to play and I got burnt multiple times with the past few standard bans, but this makes me want to try and pick up a standard deck once Dominaria rolls around. Rivals of Ixalan looks to have some really cool stuff, too - especially for EDH.
Vision Design, Set Design, and Play Design this is where paul cheon and michael majors and tom ross and some other well known pros went to work at wizards
I loved core sets. I've actually been looking at standard stuff the past day or so to see if there's a deck I'd want to play . I haven't done that in like a year. So far U/G Merfolk looks fun. I doubt it will be competitive, but I love tribal stuff.
i've been messing around with merfolk and it's super super powerful. definitely not a consistent version yet, but kumena is insanely powerful especially with deeproot waters. i've also been playing with a RB midrange deck where like, every single card either gives immediate card advantage or is removal. it's fun but definitely needs some work.
extremely jealous. i've been checking my email periodically just to see if I got one. let us know how it goes!
received my invite yesterday and played a few games. i am super happy with it so far. deckbuilding is easy, game speed is fast enough. some of the assets are missing, but that's expected. If earning gold/cards wouldn't be a drag, I'd definitely play this.
