I don't follow commander that much, but only because buying only 1 copy of a card triggers something in me, and I can't afford buying extra 3x copies of some of those cards. I assume there isn't much room for rush?

probably close: pyro needs to be built around but this fits in basically any red aggro or tempo deck
like holy shit, this makes fetches bolt. it destroys several decks. very maindeckable card in a bunch of decks

 

I feel like there are some decks that would be completely ruined just by dropping harsh mentor.

 

Would you play this over Eidolon of the Great Revel in burn?

I do like that it basically trumps Walking Ballista in standard.

same with the new eggs deck.
also dropped turn two against a deck that needs to fetch a lot and doesn't draw removal is such a beating

 

it's pretty close: cool thing about this card is that it's only one sided
depends on the deck though: some matchups eidolon is better, some matchups mentor is better. meta call really what the split needs to be, but it's 100% in the 75 i can imagine

 

Yeah I definitely see it in many, many sideboards. I was sort of shocked (heh) at the one-sidedness of it.

 

also 1R rather than RR makes it far more splashable than eidolon

 

Yeah, Mentor is going to be downright silly. Never even thought of that interaction with fetches. This will be painful in Modern/Legacy. Just build UR Delver in Legacy and wondering if this guy will have a reasonable space in it somewhere...

Prerelease Day! How's it going? What are your pulls? What cards work/don't work??

I'm doing a 2HG event tonight myself.

 

I'm very impressed with the trials and cartouches. They seem to be very very powerful.

 

First ever Prerelease, went alright! Went 5-5, took 13th out of like 30something, not terrible. Packed like crap, but got enough removal and semi decent creatures to put together a Nyea Exert kinda thing.

The biggest takeaway of the night: FUCK Glyph Keeper. That thing is the bane of my existence.

4 rounds, 2-3 games per. 5-5 is just my individual win/loss ratio haha. Sorry if that was worded poorly.

 

Haha was surprised at the win-lose ratio as well.

And yeah trading off with glyph keeper is going to be annoying if you don't have flying or reach

Usually had to use double removal to kill it, and it always just embalmed back haha.
