Definitely back this. Used to kill it with RDW. Miss that deck. Another Gideon, especially with this power level (considering how powerful Ally of Zendikar is) is seriously just...bonkers. I guess he was put in the set prior to the confirmation of a longer rotation schedule? But really, blue could use some help at this point and the new god definitely doesn't cut it. Every other color archetype is solid right now in some capacity sans blue (Copycat barely counts in my opinion). Not that blue is bad, it's just been consistently worse than other colors in standard/modern for months (at least).
Hopefully Prowling Serpopard means we'll finally get a decent counterspell. I hear you though, blue just isn't putting up control decks like it used to. It's a harder archetype for newcomers to play and Wizards is all about midrange-attack-with-creates.dec right now.
Well, this just got spoiled. Could be something. If enchantment hate doesn't start running amok, this could get pretty crazy real quick...especially since it's not legendary.
Love that card. The new Gideon is pretty amusing as well. And a 2 drop 4/4 for green? I wonder how much play it'll see. Also the gods are shaping up to be crew-fodder. Hazoret take the wheel!
Haha awesome. My friend once made me a custom deck full of cats. It was pretty nasty. Had some life gain and the Felidar Sovereign.
Hahaha. No way would my friends let me play with that. I tend toward decks with massive life gain (and angels whenever possible), so they'd probably smack me trying to use Celestial Mantle.
That card is a nice foil to these indestructible gods and planeswalkers running around. Come on Lightning Strike!
i loooooove that nissa MaRo said that due to player feedback Hours of Devastation was the first set in which they were able to cut back on the gatewatch walkers, going forward there will be fewer cards with those characters probably getting bolas and one of the characters that he helped spark in amonkhet
Nissa is my favorite spoiler from the set, no question. Gonna be absolutely stupid in EDH. Actually, I'm more stoked for most of this set for EDH purposes than anything that I want for other constructed formats.
The amount of keywords in that card is so damn high. I wonder how much play it's going to see in standard. The biggest drawback here might be the 4 toughness for a 5cc offensive creature.
much more of a commander card tbh, might become one of the most played naya commanders color combination is pretty forced right now and i don't see any decks that it fits in too well (at least gruul, preferably naya) and it doesn't have evasion. maybe a one of or sideboard card if there's a midrange gruul or naya deck
