Kind of disappointed. Like the intro/a lot of the bridges. The chorus doesn’t really deliver. The rock element doesn’t really hit for me. Feels like a made for tv Disney movie song. As an intro single for a four month rollout/had a lot of faith in Maggie’s taste, this is missing the mark for me
Well shit, this is actually the opposite of what I expected and honestly I'm glad. I thought she was going to go full laurel canyon folk, which granted could also be good, but this new song is pretty damn exciting. A lot of very weird feeling stuff on this song and it takes a second to get used to it, but it's really damn good
Depends how the single does, but yeah I’m guessing at least three because this song ain’t got the right sound to light up the charts without a good placement. I really like it though! I want her to get loud on this album and this is a step in that direction.
Love the pivot she made from the sound on her first record, always fun seeing an artist take a chance. Early Alanis vibes and I love it.
i rewatched the masterclass video yesterday, and was reminded of how Pharrell called her sound "singular" - nobody else is doing what she's doing, and she refuses to be boxed in. with this song, she's amped up that singularity because i really can't classify it as being one sound or another. it's fantastic.
i was worried about that too, especially because I didn’t really like anything on the compilation she put out in 2020
Yikes. That’s pretty early. Reminds me of in 2007 when you could find most post hardcore records 2 months before they came out
