Of course it's not that good. I just mean in terms of it seems people are dunking on it writing it off as indulgent oscar bait but its def not that at all - and my compulsion to defend it

Whole family cackled when the Snoopy balloon slowly creeped into frame during the argument. Incredible use of Snoopy overall

Enjoyed this a lot: once you get past the fact it's not really about Bernstein's musical genius at all it's a very engrossing melodrama. Brad shouldn't win any of the Oscars he's very obviously thirsty for but he made a good movie

I thought this was really great and I think the focus on his personal life is what really made it for me, a lot of those scenes hit me emotionally way more than I was expecting. Carey Mulligan is fantastic and I agree that both Snoopy parts were top tier.

  16. It's definitely Oscar bait but it's good at the same time. Coopers performance was mostly good but not consistent enough to be great, especially cause Mulligan is just so much better than him. He's a good director but not a very good writer and not good enough of an actor.

i am mostly invested in him as a director at this point. it should be noted he co-wrote this with the writer of spotlight and first man

I like First Man, a minor highlight in the Men Dedicated To The Mission subgenre

This was fine but forgettable. Feels like one of those competently-made Oscar-bait films that will have no lasting impact whatsoever.

could no disagree more. Of all the best picture contenders, this is probably my favorite. Such a moving portrait of love and narcissism, and Bradley directed the shit out of it. Also, we need to stop punishing people for wanting Oscars. It’s suddenly a bad thing to turn in a great performance and promote your movie?

Yes, I am against great performances and the promotion of them

I didn’t expect everyone to love it but I didn’t expect that this would be polarizing
