finished it at work yesterday. Really great all around though there’s some tough moments for sure to hear from Dave. lots of Mae lore for anyone who loves that stuff. I’m guessing it was recorded last year bc he referenced Nov as a potential release date but that came and went. excited to hear whatever comes next.
That was a great listen and definitely had new info on the history of the band. I had no idea about them almost going with Fueled by Ramen and how T&N came in last minute. Mae seems like one of the few bands back then that got a favorable record deal, minus the whole Capitol/Singularity mess. I appreciate Dave being so honest about what that whole process was like. I've talked with Dave several times through the years and he is the most genuine and down to earth guy. At the 20 yr Everglow tour last year we talked about our kids, my oldest son is the same age as his daughter. It was cool connecting as parents and seeing his excitement as a dad. I've talked about it before and will continue saying what a massive album The Everglow was/is for me. It came out at a time in my life I needed it most and it gave such hope. I'm grateful they are still making new music and look forward to the new album too
Was listening to morning, afternoon, evening yesterday and every time I do, I remember how much I love those EPs and appreciate how the band really went for it and got a little weird. The longer songs with multiple parts really worked in their favor
Finally caved and spent a little extra to get a copy of those EPs on vinyl about a month ago, and I do not regret it in the slightest. Some of my favorites on there. The Fisherman's Song especially.
I totally forgot about the Live Schematic Sessions they released last year, that was great to revisit again. Also, it feels like they should have more than just 4 studio albums. With all the B-sides, EPs, and special edition albums it's felt like more over the years. I'm also going to try to listen to Singularity again for the first time in forever. Yes it was a letdown album but I know there are at least a few songs I liked
