Don's biggest mistake was letting Dr. Faye out of his life

That's one of the best scenes in the series, as well as the group therapy scene with that dream and Don breaking down.

    So good.

    The sopranos
    Rectify
    maybe The Knick

  20. Not much compares. The Wire is always a good watch if you've never seen it. It's not on the same level, but I think Halt and Catch Fire has a similar 'feel' at times.

Halt and Catch Fire is definitely the closest I've found to a Mad Men replacement. First season is a little rough but it's worth it.

    or just rewatch the wire

Halt and Catch Fire's first season was very meh, everything else is pretty great but nothing on the level of Mad Men.

I find the storytelling techniques are most similar in The Sopranos, in which Matt Wiener was a writer.

Rectify also does a character study in a similarly excellent way, and does an amazing job at showcasing what humans are like at their most vulnerable and alone

Mad Men > The Sopranos > The Wire

It's very close though. They are probably my three favorite shows of all time.
