I'm not saying it sounds like Pinkerton, more so that he pretty much did whatever he wanted, veered drastically from the beloved album that came before, and it was misunderstood and kind of hated a first but eventually revered. I see this album playing out the same way.
Okay, I can dig that. It is pretty crazy how he can release his 7th album and it sound almost nothing like his previous work, but still be amazing. Kudos.
Newbury Comics employee who recognizes me: "Please do me a favor and when you go home and listen to the M83 record, come back and talk to me about it" It has fans. We are out here. We are only growing in number.
I was never a big fan of M83 (although I blame that more on my developing taste than I do on their music; I imagine I'd like it quite a lot if I were to go back to it now), but I really really like this album. I was expecting something much more . . . I don't know, wacky or something? Everything I read about this release made it sound like a (interesting?) disaster. Perhaps it's because I'm coming to it fairly distanced from the rest of their material, but songs like "Solitude," "Laser Gun," "Do It, Try It," "Go!" and so on are all awesome to me. Even the stranger moments still mesh with the overall "world" or atmosphere of the album. So yeah, count me as a fan.
Wheeeere are youuuu nooowwwwww Who do you turn tooooooo Man I love that song so much. Can't get it out of my head sometimes.
Man, this isn't nearly as bad as some were making it seem. There are about 2-3 songs I don't care for, but there's some really good stuff on here as well.
Wow, those videos are great! Love the Prince symbol on the guitarist hand. That solo is dope. I think the only songs that I don't LOVE is the Beck one and the one right after. And even then, I still think they're pretty good.
Man I love this album. It took me a listen to really process how different it is (both from past work and within itself) but there's some really brilliant stuff here.
Digital Shades Vol. 1 Before the Dawn Heals Us Dead Cities, Red Seas, & Lost Ghosts Junk M83 Saturdays = Youth Hurry Up, We're Dreaming Not sure if it's possible for it to get higher than that for me, but I think it's brilliant.
I'd say the same about you putting Hurry Up at the very bottom of your list, but to each his own haha
I think that about half of Hurry Up, We're Dreaming is fantastic, but there's too much filler. He should have released just the cream of the crop as one normal length album and it would be higher for me.
I agree with that mindset for Hurry Up overall, there's a lot I don't care for. Saturdays is still my favorite, this new one probably second after it
