This is a damn shame. I gotta make it to one of these dates. Have yet to see them live and Return To Love is one of my favorite albums of all time.
Doubt it, band was close to breaking up before the last record before subpop convinced them, or something
it’s also, let’s be honest, not like lvl up was bringing them a ton of money in. they’re a huge label. they’ll be fine lol.
Why were they so close to breaking up when signed? Too interested in their own projects or something?
Meet LVL UP, The Brooklyn Band That’s So Good No One Will Let Them Break Up it seems a little tongue in cheek but they definitely didn't seem 100% into it
Good read. I had not come across the before. Interesting to know that such a delicate situation led to Return to Love. Also, I feel like them breaking up now is only going to help that record build its mystique. The fanboy in me says it could be on some level with In An Aeroplane Over the Sea or something.
forever will remember the bad energy they gave off the times I saw them tbh. Played solid but for sure werent into some part of it. It’s too bad, they’re all involved in other cool things but this group, those two Lps were/are something special
How is this band live? Considering going to see them this Friday. Also like the bands opening for them at the Chicago date so that’s a plus.
Not sure but i have tickets for the Philly date so I’m hoping they are pretty good. I’ve seen Dave’s band and they were great.
they were great the few times I've seen them, excited and bummed to see them later this month. if you haven't check out the album Dave put out this year under Trace Mountains - solid stuff.
Trace Mountains live as a full band is good. Dave solo is kind of meh. Still can't believe LVL UP is hanging it up. Return to Love is so good. And they got it on Sub-Pop! Throwing away such momentum.
