Mural Jr. Possibly now my most anticipated album of the year. A concept album by Lupe sounds incredible. Haile Selassie and Jonylah Forever have both actually been out for years so it's interesting to see them on here, they're both fantastic though. Stack That Cheese has to be the Hip-Hop Has Saved My Life sequel that he's been teasing, and I know Mural Jr. will live up to the hype too
Damn, hopefully this doesn't affect his sales. It's his first completely independent album and he deserves it
this is great so far but damn he needs to chill on these cheesy pop choruses love the utterly ridiculous concept/execution a whole lot
Haven't heard anything on this yet, but super excited. Definitely one of my most anticipated albums the year. Just hoping it's more T&Y and less Drogas Light.
Ngl the name connection to Drogas Light made me not even want to check this out... this is much better huh?
Yes, Light was just leftover shit that wasn't good enough to make his previous albums, this is an insanely detailed concept album he's been making for something like five years
OK, that's good to hear. The Drogas name connection kind of concerned me, although I always love Lupe's more ambitious stuff, so I wasn't too worried.
Man I'm actually bothered that he'd market those two COMPLETELY different things as part of the same "trilogy" But that's good, I'm excited to check this out now.
This project is crazy. An hour and 40 minutes is sooooo much music for an artist as lyrically and conceptually dense as Lupe.
Just finished my first listen. I probably understood the meaning of about 40% of the lyrics but I enjoyed every single second of it, which is a sign that it's an amazing Lupe project. Seriously, this thing is so fucking long but there isn't a song I would take off. I'd go as far as to say this might be the new The Cool to T&Y's F&L if that makes sense. How is it not agreed upon that Lupe is one of the greatest rappers ever? Standout songs on first listen are Manilla, WAV Files, Haile Selassie (even though it's been out forever), Sun God Sam, Kingdom, Imagine, Stack That Cheese (had the biggest smile on my face this whole song), King Nas, Happy Timbuck2 Day and Mural Jr., which is like half the album lol I was worried about XO when I read people's comments on it but I actually really like it, Lupe's rapping is still insane on there even though it's on the poppy side So happy with this, can't wait to see him in a few weeks
