Came to this thread basically to gripe about how lackluster I found the majority of this album. It was my introduction to Lupe Fiasco but reading the past couple posts I guess he warrants another try.
Yes, Lupe himself already admitted this is pretty much a throwaway album featuring old songs, B-sides and poppier material. Food & Liquor and The Cool are classics and Tetsuo and Youth is great as well. LASERS is poppy but MUCH better compared to DROGAS Light. Food & Liquor II is really bad.
Listened to this while driving and i gotta say, it bangs real hard I think you needa go into this not expecting a Lupe Fiasco album, but rather a party album Lupe raps on (and his flows still remain impeccable) Also KRITs verse is perfect
Well to clarify, I listened to it as part of an effort to listen to more new albums this year and not as an introduction to Lupe Fiasco, but I don't want this album to be my sole impression of him so I'm definitely going to try either The Cool or Food & Liquor.
if you're looking for suggested new albums to check out, there's this thread where we've been chatting about the year's output as we go: Monthy Music Catchup
I thought it was just DROGAS and Skulls coming up next--never heard of DROGAS Wave. Still pretty pumped
While I like the above art better overall, the minimal design works very well side by side with Light
