That wouldn't work because the rest of the band has been in close contact/exposed to Jacob, it's not as simple as just finding someone else unfortunately.
I think if tours were operating this way we’d be seeing a lot more canceled dates! But the Dacus gang seems to be more careful than others, so you’re probably right. At my job you don’t even have to get tested after exposure anymore if you’re vaccinated which is so crazy to me.
It's one thing when it's a roadie or tech who may not have much exposure to the performers. This being one of the few times I can think of a band member testing positive. That's someone Lucy and the rest o the band interact with on a daily basis. He also likely interacts with Bartees's band as well. Just, unfortunately, the likelihood is a couple weeks of shows canceled or postponed. I suspect that's why we haven't heard anything yet.
Got an email saying tonight and tomorrow are postponed but they are tentatively planning to pick back up on Monday at the Vic
Just shows how fragile the income of a touring musician is right now. Hope they are able to reschedule quickly for both the fans and so it doesn’t cause too much of a hit to them financially.
It’s why headliners can drop off festivals but a band like Mayday Parade has to play Riot Fest as a four piece and with their drum tech filling in. Being a low level act right now is treacherous as fuck.
There's no way Jacob will be performing with them, right? I guess the rest of the band must still be testing negative? Also curious if they'll have a replacement since his parts are pretty integral
Even if they are testing negative I still feel it’s too early for them to be returning. I’m still tentatively attending tonight but yeah
Yeah that show was so good. Lucy played unreleased songs as the encore so I wonder if we are getting another record soon - perhaps a Home Vídeo Side B?
Five times in a year would be impressive in anyway. Five times in a pandemic year even more so! I haven’t even been to a show since people started touring again.
She did the Regina Spektor cover and a new song tonight as well. Excellent show, when she decided to rock it’s the best.
Just came back from her show and wow! She’s amazing. Phoebe came out for Please Stay and Going Going Gone! Also, I’ve never seen a quieter crowd than when she played Thumbs
