it only just occurred to me how similar them tracking Charlie by his finger wrapping things is to how they track Merry and Pippin in The Two Towers. wonder if that's a deliberate reference
worst line in this show by far is "I'm the only Australian who likes peanut butter", actual nonsense. no-one on this writer's team has ever been to Australia
Briefly Googled this and while it probably is just a random assumption about vegemite, I did read a couple of interesting factoids that Australian peanut butter is not sweetened like it is here in the US and apparently there was a time in history where it could not be marketed as "butter" and was called "peanut paste". Fun!
I don't know what it's like in America but chunky peanut butter here is, not to exaggerate, the food of the gods peanut paste is very funny tho
man they were really cooking with those first few episodes in s2. Desmond, Eko, probably the best Jack/John scene (IT'S NEVER BEEN EASY!), just a huge high point of this show
That’s exactly what happened, well not the whole band but Gerard sang it a couple times when he was doing some banter in the 2nd set. I wish I remembered the exact context. Then he said “I didn’t even finish watching that show” or something like that
didn't really occur to me the first time I watched because she doesn't get a lot to do but Yunjin is absolutely tremendous in this show. honestly might be the best actor on it after Terry and Emerson. that scene with Kate where they find Sun's wedding ring is phenomenal acting
wow til Walt's messages to Shannon aren't just creepy gibberish they're super creepy backwards dialogue. really indulging in the Twin Peaks influence there
Did not realize there was a thread for this. Did a rewatch last year and man, this show holds way up.
I tried to re watch it a few years ago and gave up in season one. Someone should make an edit so the seasons aren’t 37 episodes long. Too much filler.
Well, I could go into detail about how watching Agents Of SHIELD, which is 24 episodes a season, has got me thinking about how TV seasons have shrunk so significantly in the streaming era, and how funny it is to see people shy away from devoting time to longer-running shows when that used to be the norm. But mostly it was a knee-jerk response, so I dunno that we have to make it a thing.
Longer seasons definitely are missed, more time and depth with characters, world building, room to breathe. Sure, short seasons are quicker to burn through, but I think there's definitely something that's been lost in the shrinking of seasons. I'm also aware it depends on the show itself
