My best friend and I live in different states and whenever we leave to go back to our homes we always part with "see you in another life, brotha".
I'll have to give it a try -- I've got a couple of seasons on Blu-Ray, but after it came to streaming I never really revisited the discs. All of that Hawaiian landscape is screaming for the crisp resolution though.
Haha I have the Blu-Rays but yeah I'm too lazy to dig them up. I downloaded blu ray rips and stream them on Plex.
A write-up celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the finale: Lost co-creator and cast reflect upon hit show as finale turns 10
my friend is watching the series for the first time right now and I'm LOVING her sending reactions as things happen.
Welp, back in 2013 my wife and I watched this to half way through the last season and for some reason never finished it. We've just sat down and finished it finally this week. Literally finished it 5 minutes ago so still processing it all and not entirely sure if I've made sense of it, but man I really loved this show. Found myself getting choked up several times in the last few episodes. Looking forward to digging through all the lore now and finding out all the Easter eggs I missed.
I always want to rewatch this but it’s so hard to rewatch stuff when there’s so much good new stuff coming out.
Not sure what the consensus is here, but the ending is much better in retrospect. Whenever I hear people say how bad the ending was I ask them if they've gone back to it in the last ten years. They never have. When you recognize that everything involving the island was centered around the characters (instead of wanting all the mysteries to be solved) you realize how significant the finale is. Not a perfect show, but still one of the very best. I'd love to see its popularity surge again with this new generation of binge-watchers. People need to stop telling others to not waste their time on it cause of the ending.
People always complain about the finale but I always felt the real misstep was the final season as a whole. Rewatching it I notice how many needless diversions it has, uneven pacing, hyped story lines that fizzle before they begin, and a general lack of forward momentum that (IMO) betrayed the promise of the season 5 finale. But, then again, I feel the same way about the first half of the fifth season. The season 4 finale made a promise that the first half of season 5 kinda welshed on. But even with its flaws Lost is still one of my favorite shows, and its highs easily tower over its lows.
Yes to all of this but especially the bolded part. I never got the hate over the finale, but Season 6 as a whole... can choke.
K, as I'm still making sense of it all, here is a gripe that perhaps y'all can help me work through... Let me start by saying I like the flash-sideways stuff, it offers nice closure on a lot of the characters and provides most of the poignancy of the final season. But, it also has no real bearing on what happens on the island. I get that it gives us the Jack/Christian exposition, but I can't help but feel that its just there to give us the sense of a happy ending when the reality is that life on the island was brutal and tragic for near enough everyone there. I dont know if just inventing an afterlife where everyone gets everything they wanted is a bit cheap...? Just rambling really, overall I'm satisfied with how it finished, more so than I expected to be tbh. Wish I'd watched the final season closer to having watched the rest of the series, there was lots of details and plot points that I'd forgotten. Love the idea of doing a rewatch at some point but I'd be surprised if I could convince my wife to get on board.
If they didn’t do the flash sideways, I think you get a lot more people on board with the finale. It confused way too many people who weren’t paying close enough attention and then it became an echo chamber of “they were dead the whole time!”
