so im super sick right now so i doubt I will get much partying done, but omg I am excited for the toronto show tonight.
This might be better than No Blues. Which is crazy. So many moments on this resonate with me. Renato Dall'Ara(2008) is such a fantastic opener. Also on an unrelated note that little guitar part in the middle of Got Stendhal's reminds me of a small part in Entombed by Deftones.
Renato is currently my favorite LC! song. My favorite constantly changes because they're so goddamn good but I've been in love since hearing it.
ugh they're talking about how many people dislike hello sadness so fucking weird still i think that's easily my favorite
romance is boring songs had the biggest reaction from the crowd's at the toronto show which i found interesting.
i have the most nostalgic value attached to hello sadness due to the memories attached to that time of my life. everytime i listen to hello sadness is an emotional roller coaster to me
for some reason i still felt their first LP was their most "loved". Like there was more people singing Romance is Boring than You! Me! Dancing! (which made me incredibly happy, cause i love RiB)
ya i think this comes from when last time they were in Toronto they played two sold out shows. the first was a bunch of people who knew/loved every song, then the 2nd show was like 400 people who only sung along/danced to ONLY y!m!d!. i think 4/5 years ago there was a decent amount of people who would see them/like them only for that first album/one hit, but those people probably don't know they still playing shows, so probably wouldn't go to this tour. (ive heard a lot of "los campesinos are still a band??")
Los Campesinos! Rank Their First Five – Yes, There Were Five – Records - Noisey damn hello sadness is their least favorite lol
Weird how down they are on Hello Sadness. I do like that they acknowledge the cut songs should have definitly been on the record. Tiptoe Through The True Bits is too good to be a b-side. They are my favorite band, but I do not enjoy their first two albums. I kind of forget they even exist
"There's a track called "Tiptoe Through the True Bits" that we released as a free download afterwards, that I think is a really good song, and a track called "Allez Les Blues" which we used for a 7-inch. I think if you took a couple out and put those two in then suddenly it becomes a different and slightly better album. For me, I was too wilfully defeated and moping. The middle section in particular trudges a bit too much." This is exactly why Hello Sadness is my least favourite. I love it when bands are self-aware enough to analyze and critique their own shortcomings enough to somehow fully recognize at which points they might have fallen off a bit. 'Life Is A Long Time', 'Every Defeat A Divorce', and 'Hate For The Island' sink that record down to the depths as if they were tethered to instant favourites like 'By Your Hand', 'Songs About Your Girlfriend, and 'To Tundra'. For those who aren't privy, please listen to the Heat Rash series. It's a collection of singles they drop for their fan club that I'll gladly (digitally) introduce you to should you shoot a message my way.
willfully defeated and mopey sound like what i like in music though, haha. sort of like how i think facts is easily death cab's best record
never posted on thursday about the show one of the best i've seen in recent years. i'm already so hyped (and bummed because i might never) to see them again. didn't get rennato dall'ara but we did get the fall of home instead
they sounded pretty optimistic at our show that they'll be back. I think they've gotten enough hype/good press from this recent album that I could see them wanting to do another album. We also got Fall of Home and it was wonderful.
