dude this sucks. not in the evac zone but the sunset fire is directly south of me there a new little one that just popped up in studio city what the fuck why is this happening
This entire neighborhood is leveled, can't even fit it all in a single shot... Just insane That's this area: All those homes and businesses... just gone.
If it hasn’t hit you watching it from afar, the fires are crazier than you may think. Places and cities you would never expect to be razed to the ground have been. It’s not just “neighborhoods that happen to be up in a mountain area”. It’s comedy theaters, museums, banks, post offices, homes, apartments, restaurants, and streets that are population-dense and seemed untouchable with this kind of stuff. I hope everyone around is safe or has been moved to a safe place!
I drove around Pacific Palisades and Malibu just two months ago, thinking to myself what an awesome place it must be to live. Wild to think that the ENTIRE DOWNTOWN of Pacific Palisades is now gone (?) in addition to a lot of the oceanside property in Malibu. Just absolutely terrible what people are going through.
Are there gofundme’s or anything for your friends or any immediate needs you know of? I can boost links and lists on social media
The 2 major fires are still burning, but it’s progressing positively at the moment. Though I believe we are supposed to get more Santa Ana winds next week on Monday and Tuesday.
Be careful with the rain, it’s hazardous with all the ash and stuff. Wash your clothes and take a shower if you end up out in it
My wife and I went to pick up her friend at LAX this morning and were pretty shocked about how quiet it was. Not complaining!
I didn’t know until last night lol. I got in the shower and had small leaves in my hair. The water we tracked into the house was practically black and I’m down by LAX
hey @AWasteOfATime this you? still living in LA? i might wanna snag a couple records from ya, dm me and we can work out when/where to meet up so you won't have to ship them. i'm up in the Valley tho but i'll be in the city for shows in the coming months
I had to get over multiple lanes pretty fast in traffic yesterday on my way home, there's was a Waymo in the lane to my left where I wanted to go, so I cut it off on purpose because they are trained to avoid collisions. Pretty cool.
Speaking of driving, my hood opened all the way up while I was on the freeway. Luckily I was on the right-most lane and was able to pull over safely. My hood hadn't been able to close properly since I, uh, rear-ended someone a few years back. My dad found a way to screw it closed and there weren't any problems until now but I guess it came undone somehow. Scared the shit out of me, nearly gave my mom a heart attack.
Glad ur ok. Sometimes I see my hood kinda bouncing just a tad and I imagine it popping open like that
