Like I mean, god damn, Jimmy Eat World is playing at a baloon festival. and my friends dont even want to go.
downs. on the small chance my friend can't get work off I wouldn't be able to go but I should most likely be there.
Not sure what type of show you're looking for, but if you're based in LA, talk to Pauline at Pehrspace. They're hard to get a hold of through email but they have a volunteer group on Facebook, if you join and help with door or s/t for a show that's an easy way to reach someone. Otherwise you might be able to propose a show if you go to a Bridgetown DIY collective meeting. They're in La Puente though. Orange County will probs be a lot easier than LA tbh.
I'm not much good for this, but there's a skate shop called Programme right next to my university in Fullerton that's been putting in some great DIY shows over the last two years. Real Friends, Turnstile, Angel Dust, World Be Free are some of the bigger bands that have played, but they have shows all the time ranging from Hip Hop, Punk, Indie, and Metal/Hardcore.
I'm not in the area, I live in Vegas. I was trying to find a way to get in contact with The Smell, but it seems like that venue doesn't want people booking there unless they're already in their established small community. Not sure why that's the case. I've played Bridgetown before! It's a cool spot but a little further out of the LA area than we are able to make work. I'll look into the Pehrspace though, haven't heard of that one. Thank you! Oh yeah Programme is great, I played there last year. Gonna look into maybe setting something up there again. Thank you!
Yeah The Smell is hard to book. Hit up Pacific Nature and/or OC DIY if you want to book in OC. They book at Programme and at Beatnik Bandito and from what I understand are very receptive to touring bands.
Currently on metro, high above traffic. View attachment 1246 Also, mobile photo upload is so easy here!
Dammit I just remembered I still have to book my hotel Really hope it doesn't end up being last minute like Portland was where I was booking it while on the plane
I definitely would love to see your face if you can squeeze me in! Even if we just grab lunch or coffee or something
Yes definitely! I'm going there with an entirely free schedule and playing it all by ear haha, it's gonna be so nice
One of my closest friends in LA is also going to be out of town those exact days. It looks like when I show up, the party stops.
In LA now. Your city is confusing as hell to get around. I decided to take a train instead of a bus to Santa Barbara so I head out from union station at 7:15. Tell me some things to do around union station or that I could do and get back to the station on time for my train.
Walk over to Olvera Street, a Mexican marketplace with really cool architecture, stores and excellent food. Walk over to Philippe's, the original french dip sandwich Hop on the Gold Line and get off in Little Toyko for some excellent food, stop at Arts District or Angel City Brewery for a flight or two Take the Expo line to the Natural History Museum/Science Center and African American Museum
Thanks! I ate lunch at Phillipe's, took the silver line to the Grammy Museum, then the red line to Hollywood Blvd and walked around a little bit, had some beers and took some photos. Wish I had remembered that Amoeba was up that way before I left to head back to Union Station, but I couldn't have bought anything anyway so I suppose it wasn't a total loss.
Booked my hotel today so this will no longer be a trip where I'm booking the hotel during the flight there woooooo
