Willow gonna be opening for Gambino two nights at Crypto, gonna see if I can get tix, hopefully not too expensive. Already seen Willow tho (and Billie) so I wouldn't be too heartbroken
Went to see Willow at Amoeba, she played three songs and bounced. Really disappointing. Good thing I have the Soccer Mommy show later tonight or coming out here wouldn't have been worth it.
idk? I was really confused bc I'd never been to one of these. There wasn't a signing tho. People were pretty pissed, especially because some came late and missed the entire thing. I got the impression that these are typically longer than twelve minutes
Yeah I think i would've been fine with four or five songs coming in at around twenty minutes. I don't want to seem like I'm really pissed off at her or anything, I just wanna make clear, this was two short songs and one long song, with a lot of talking in between. Didn't seem typical. But again, I'm already going to an actual show tonight, and I'll be seeing Willow again opening for Childish Gambino, this was just supposed to be a nice little bonus. I'm not torn up about it edit: Anyway, Christian Lee Hutson opened for Sophie, and he brought up Phoebe Bridgers to sing with him for his last song, so that was cool. But also the security guy was rude and misgendered me so that wasn't cool edit: Sophie's set was a nice mix of unreleased and familiar songs, it was cool to see her play these solo. She also brought Phoebe up to do a song, they covered Elliott Smith's "The Biggest Lie" edit: so what happened was, i checked the site for any bag policy and there wasn't one to be found, so i assumed i could bring in my Amoeba loot. so I'm standing there waiting in line with my Billie record and some other cds and security says no outside merchandise, food, or drink. i figured i'll probably just have to check the bag with the office or something (which ended up being the case), but when it was my turn to go in, the guy gave me a really hard time, he's like "stand over to the side and figure out what to do with those because you can't go in with them." I told him I parked in NoHo, no chance I was gonna take the subway there and back just to put my shit in my car. He then asked the couple behind me to step aside as well, asking "are you here with him?" ohhhh hell no. During Pride Month? Are you fucking kidding me? I corrected him by saying "uh, her" then he has the gall, the absolute audacity to say "sorry bro." yeah, fuck this guy. Thank goodness there was an employee there who was actually helpful, like I said he checked my bag with the office and said to ask for "Eddie" after the show. So later, before Christian went on, Eddie informed me that he had a long talk with that security guy and doesn't think he'll be returning. Cool. Then when I came to pick up my bag, he informed me that the tour manager said no outside merch. He apologized again, I thanked him for returning my things, then went on my way. So yeah, Eddie at the Masonic Lodge, cool dude. I wore heeled boots so by that time my feet were killing me. Lime scooters cut off at Sunset/Vine. Paid five bucks for half a mile, had to walk the last few blocks. Would've been eight bucks to get in an uber to take me the whole way. Frustrating night, but the performances were good, so
So today before the Sasami show I'm getting dinner and Sophie walks in so I guess she's gonna be at the show too haha Edit: she is indeed at the show
I apparently spend too much time in Burbank, the person at checkout recognized me at B&N and at the candy store Anyway, here's this
Clairo is playing five nights at the Fonda and Songkick didn't tell me until a week after tix went on sale??? --it's fine. I'm fine. I'm already spending way too much on concerts this year.
So where should I go once I park at LA Live? Anything outside of that entertainment area that would be good for a quick(ish) solo meal/drinks?
Julien sold out in seconds dumb as hell but at least i got tix to Olivia Rodrigo. In Intuit Dome in Inglewood tho ughhh anyone try parking at Target and get away with it?
Have a buddy who swears by this Korean place called dan sung sa over near there. Never tried it, but may be worth a go!
Tragically I am celiac so I'll have to research both of these places but thank you and any and all recommendations are welcome ❤️
