The fire started about twelve miles from me and then all the wind pushed the smoke over my neighborhood
Finally a reprieve from the heat. I am loving this fall-like weather. Perfect time to put Phoebe Bridgers back into rotation.
Lived in KTown near the Wilternfor two years relying on street parking and it was absolute hell, never found a monthly solution
Right?! I actually found a garage right by the Wiltern, but I live way up by Beverly and Vermont, so it was a 30 minute walk home whenever I used it.
Yeah, I was on 9th and Wilton so anything actually next to the Wiltern was too far a walk. It’s garbage though. Getting home from work at 8:30 every night and spending 30min doing laps around the neighborhood, let alone the trouble you’ll have if you go out late on the weekend. I liked my apartment and I liked living down there for the most part, but I do not miss that.
Yeah, what I usually end up doing is parking at work in Larchmont and just Ubering home or doing the 45-minute walk. Seriously considering just buying a bike, but you're absolutely right, it doesn't solve the problem of trying to find parking on those late nights.
Yeah, I work in Burbank, so I’d actually gotten a bike and would ride it to the Purple line, take that to the Red Line, and ride the bike from NoHo to Burbank and it worked out pretty well. But with the train schedule during construction it ended up taking me more time to get home that way every night than it did to just drive and find parking.
@Bloodsucker II brought this thread to my attention, so just posted so I have notifications for when I'm back in town 6months into living in LA from England, and looking to expand my social circle from my buddy and his gf, and chorus people are cool people right? lets hang guys/girls! also, someone told me its considered weird in America for a guy to hang out with a girl one on one that he's not dating? sounds bizarre to me as most of my friends from back home are girls and I haven't dated any of them
You can absolutely hang out with girls but jerks will assume that you're romantically interested for some reason
I wouldn't say it's weird, necessarily, I have friends who are girls who I hang out with one on one. I do think however that a lot of people assume that you must be romantically interested. I'm not gonna lie though, most of my friendships that have been with the opposite sex haven't been romantic but have been sexual, so there's that. I just always think it's important to be open and direct. So @DickyCullz , what brings you to L.A. and what part do you live in?
@Bloodsucker II my company opened an office Burbank right behind the massive IKEA in Jan and I came out in May to help lead the team. We make animations for bands when they play live, so if any of you saw the Korn tour this year that was us. Currently out in doing The Killers tour so when it rolls around to America check it out Live in Silver Lake/East Hollywood depending on who you ask it seems! Right by SQIRL just off Vermont/Virgil. I like the area but not sure I'll stay there when my lease is up next year, though it is nice to have a parking space and a washer/dryer in my apartment. Luxury apparently.
read back a few pages, saw you've just moved to K-Town. You been to R-Bar yet? Solid cocktails and great karaoke on Sunday nights. You need the password to get in but thats easily found on their twitter/facebook/instagram
it's on the corner of 8th and irlo. also if you've not done Korean bbq yet, a few doors down is Oo-Kook. AYCE and about $25
My time spent in Silverlake has been brief but pleasant. If I had to live anywhere in L.A. proper it’d be there
its a cool place for sure, though I'm def over paying for my studio. about 2 weeks after I signed the lease the apartment next door to my friend came up for rent in Hollywood. would have been perfect, though my liver would have suffered a beating where abouts do you live?
I’m in South Bay, Long Beach to be exact, but I find myself in LA from time to time for concerts and events. I’m debating whether or it I can afford to go to the Thrice/Circa Survive show this weekend
