I'm a pretty big Solar Power apologist, it's no Melodrama but I think it's still an album that Lorde did a good job making. Big Star is absolutely heartbreaking, I want to take pictures of all my pets constantly and losing them is one of the worst feelings in the world. Songs like Solar Power and Mood Ring are still absolute bops, and I sort of feel like the two bonus songs could have been switched in with like, Man with the Axe and Dominoes and it would have benefited the album. ALSO I have fond memories of the Solar Power music video and all of the talk and dissection of the Midsommar vibes from it.
Solar Power is fantastic, some really great tracks on that record and still feels so specifically her
I am also a definite Solar Power defender and while I like the new song a lot, I hope if this IS a return to form it’s because that’s what she wanted to do and not because of the reaction to Solar Power
