This is actually better than I thought. It's a little weird though the first song is like, "I'm not your savior," and then the song immediately after is like, "follow me, I'm a prettier Jesus" lol just like such a quick change in character/perspective
Yeah I had no idea this site hated Jack Johnson so much, like the guy is pretty harmless even if you don't like his music.
I love this album. Exactly what I needed right now. Don't think it'll stick with me like Melodrama - which might be one of my favorite albums ever - but this is very solid. I think I need to listen to it with Dolby Atmos turned off. I'm finding I just don't care for the albums as much with it enabled.
As someone who has never been a huge Lorde fan other than her hits, this album I think is hitting me a bit more inoffensively than some of you. Seems like a good record for a hot shitty summer.
I think the songs in the second half are strong enough (although I don't think I like Leader of a New Regime) but the last three songs feel kind of tacked on?
This isn't bad, but it doesn't feel destined to ever be anything more than pleasant background music.
I want to draw a line to The White Lotus with this record, but that feels wrong. It’s tempting, but doesn’t make any sense. Someone tell me I’m right.
I don’t fuck with track listings but good god it’s going to bother me to no end that it doesn’t open: 1. Leader of a New Regime 2. Solar Power Feel like thematically at least “The Path” would work as the closer. End the album on the “I’m not your savior” note.
its definitely more nine perfect strangers than white lotus, in that it’s bad and boring and weird and not good
I can't find it in me to hate this but it is seriously underwhelming musically. So many chances where the record could have gotten weird and fun and it just doesn't. Lyrically it ranges from some of her best stuff to some of her worst.
