Writer in the Dark and Perfect Places are both really fucking good. The second half of the album is unreal.
i'm intrigued in this even though i haven't liked any lorde i've heard really. i'll give it a shot. reactions in here have just been too good YATES where'd you go i miss you so it's like it's been forever since you've been gone
This record is stacked top to bottom. Top 3 right now are "The Louvre", "Writer in the Dark", and "Supercut". Really hard to even pick tho.
i hated royals and wasn't a fan of any of the other singles i heard, and even green light was just "ok"
Tbh I think royals is terrible and it put me off her debut for a long time. Ryan Hemsworth remix of Ribs is what sold me on her actually.
Same with Casey here, I know you're joking as I'm very not cool but Royals was so off-putting to me that I never really got past that despite the praise and recognition. Jokes on me because she's a badass
Have you heard Ryan's remix of Ribs? It's super good. Also, maybe not your style, but Flume's remix of Tennis Court also played a role in my interest in her.
Psht, not my style? I love Cashmere and Mura Masa, this Flume remix ain't far off and it's very good but not as good as the Hemsworth remix which I also just listened to for the first time and goddamn.
I just realized what "Hard Feelings" reminds me of: Beyonce's "Jealous" (one of Bey's most underrated songs, for the record).
Weird to see so many people who didn't listen to/like stuff off Pure Heroine. That record is fantastic.
Royals was bad and that was a lot of people's exposure to her, don't think it's that weird! Plus there are like five great records out every week - we can't keep up with em all!
I also find it weird people think Royals is a bad song ha. And yes, lots of albums come out but Pure Heroine was pretty huge. So it's weird that in an album thread of hers so many people missed her only other album. Edit: I don't by any means think Royals is her best song or even top tier. Far from bad I'd say.
