That "solo" in "Hard Feelings/Loveless" that sounds like a very tuneful industrial accident is blowing my mind.
Also: huge props to her for taking her time with this album. 4 years is a long time in the pop world. Instead of rushing some new music to feed the machine, she buckled down, lived more of her life, found new muses, and trusted her fans to wait for her. It paid off dividends.
I adore this. The Louvre and Writer in the Dark are the two standouts, not counting the prerelease tracks.
There are a lot of good raw vocal moments on this. Which isn't shocking, since Jack is a big fan of those and uses them well.
Once I get through the rest of today's releases I'll be coming back to this for a second listen. Might even do that before I hear some of the other ones to be honest.
This may end up being my favorite thing released in the first half of the year. I am seriously loving it.
I'm so glad this has been getting so much praise Although, by the end of the day I'm sure we're going to be seeing some hot takes
I'm enjoying this, but for right now, I enjoy the first album a lot more. I'm sure this will be in heavy rotation though.
The strings in Sober II remind me of the strings at the end of Girl, Gun by All Get Out, haha. Sort of a random little connection.
I think what i like about this over pure heroine right now is that it feels more focused. Pure Heroine has some of my favorite songs ever (I have listened to Ribs every day for at least a few years now), but this definitely has less filler
