idk exactly because I like so many and for so many different reasons, but every poem that I might say is my favorite is by either Kenneth Patchen or Ezra Pound. Patchen is just my favorite poet in general

My aunt died yesterday and she was 82 with massive Alzheimer's so it wasn't unexpected but I know my mom is crushed for a multitude of reasons but I feel so damn guilty because I just haven't felt ... anything about it? I've seen my aunt twice in like 15 years so I'm pretty removed from any sort of memories of her. I'm also starting to deal with the ramifications of this breakup in november now that I'm in my own place alone in silence. It was nice to go out with my friend tonight but man, what a fuckin' six weeks or so.

 

I feel this. My grandmother had Alzheimer’s and bone cancer and I’m so emotionally detached except knowing how it’s affecting my mother. It’s weird.

 

I feel so overcome with guilt for not feeling worse, it's crazy.

 

I felt that way about my uncle. We just weren’t close. I mean I loved him during my childhood. I thought maybe I was in denial but it never came.

Hey man, whatever you’re feeling is totally okay. I’ve had relatives die who I wasn’t close with and felt next to nothing. The most important thing, in my opinion, is that you’re there for your mom since she’s the one who is in pain.

 

She treated me pretty horribly (especially compared to my other grandmother), so that helps me not feel guilty. But I totally get it. Can’t help who you love. Can’t help who you don’t.

 

no one can dictate your feelings, I didn't get sad when my grandparents passed or when my cousin passed because I wasn't particularly close to them

Yeah, about that. She's like an hour from me in the city I grew up in and I should just go back and spend time with her but i haven't, which adds onto the guilt.

 

When I was grieving, I found a lot of comfort in a phone call tbh.
