I think it takes away from both the fries and the burger, but it's not unacceptable.

Don't you ever find it's too much? Let the fries be hot and crispy on the side, not steamed and mushy inside a burger bun. Now, if you were to make a burger bun out of french fries... that would be something.

 

Must be. Although this is what I've experienced at any five guys I've ever been to.

 

Oh it’s somwthing I almost always do. Same thing with bbq sandwiches

I will say that I felt much more joy eating at Five Guys than I did eating at Shake Shack

Although food-wise Shake Shack is better

 

I often put a few on my burger (not too many though) and find it adds to it. I wish cheesy hashbrowns were available for every burger tbh
