Twin Peaks S3 is still my favorite piece of media this year

Well, I've seen the first 7 eps of season 3, then stopped lolz.

Wtf!? Get on that boiii. Episode 8 is INSANE

 

I've heard a lot of people that tried to get into Twin Peaks recently completely hated it

 

I could totally understand that if they hadn't seen the prior seasons or had only seen seasons 1 and 2 of the original run and then didn't keep up with Lynch's work after that. Watching the new season week to week was honestly one of the most challenging and frustrating television experiences I've ever had. Ultimately very rewarding though.

The new season is just about the most Lynch-y David Lynch has ever been and it's absolutely not for everyone. But man, if Lynch's brand of weirdness, extremely vague mysteries and deliberate, slow pacing is your thing, there's nothing better than S3.

 

I heard it from people who followed the original run and hated the new season, and people who watched it for the first time and hated the original run

 

The only Lynch thing I've seen though is Blue Velvet

 

The original run of Twin Peaks (watched for the first time this year) was not very good. But it was so weird that I kept watching and eventually think I liked it. Idk.

 

Did you enjoy it? If you liked that then you'd enjoy Mulholland Dr. and probably Twin Peaks as well. I think you'd really appreciate the horror elements found in Twin Peaks, especially in season 3. I feel like it had some of the most terrifying stuff I've seen in recent years.

I mean I get why people might not like the original run watching it for the first time (it's a show very much of its time at points, it's weird and often very silly, some strange tonal shifts and heavy pacing problems later on), and I get why people who loved the first run might not have liked the new season (it's an almost entirely different show with very little of it bearing any resemblance to the first two seasons and goes very long stretches focusing on entirely new characters) but it's something that's 100% what I'm looking for from new David Lynch material and does fascinating things with the lore and ideas presented in the original Twin Peaks.

ANYWAY don't mean to keep ranting about Twin Peaks.

Watching PTM blow up like this has been so bizarre

I sound like an ass but I really do miss their older albums

I don’t even like PTM but their new single has been on the radio a bunch lately and every time I’m like “what white nonsense is this” and was very flabbergasted when it wasn’t foster the people

 

Their new shit is still good though

 

I’m not a fan of it unfortunately. Waiter/Church/Colors was an incredible run though

 

It's crazy, the once incredibly prolific band, putting out a record a year for the longest time, finally takes more than a year or two between records and puts out something that gets GIGANTIC. I'm not into their newest record at all but I'm really glad they've had such a successful year.

 

I've never listened to PTM more than casually, I enjoy their music but never really sought them out, it is cool that they're big now
