There is not one single GD person who has been in hollywood (EXCEPT TOM HANKS :LOL:) for a while that doesn't know about all this shit. These statements..I'm just like give me a fucking break.

 

uh, the tour forum used to be much worse than any forum i ever stepped foot in other than news articles. i would wager a guess that those that disagree did not spend a good deal of time in there.

it was putrid. tons of dudes victim-blaming sexual assault victims. it is where the pure noise debacle defenders went to chill. really, really bad. the user that made 99% of the threads there, kidinthebushes, was a piece of shit who would downplay literal rape and pedophilia. i reported him, jason banned him seconds later, and the place has been much better since.

 

basically, the tour forum was where 30+ year old white men would speculate on what hot topic-core bands were going to play warped tour the next year. how good could that possibly be

to be fair, jen retracted her statement a bunch and tig didn't bring new accusations, only a desire for him to face the pre-existing ones.

not at all trying to defend him but those two points are largely why this story took so long to gain real momentum

I just mean his comedy got me through a lot of hard times and I really thought he was one of the good ones so it kinda hits me hard.

 

i know he has made a lot of gross bits about women but he's also had his share of bits that were good-natured and supportive, and i always interpreted those as being more sincere and subsequently allowed them to justify the worse ones in my mind. ugh.

 

Fuck louis ck. I watched a simon amstell stand up special like two nights ago that hit super close to home and it was glorious.

 

i'm right there with you. i am just afraid this will be case #1,000 of the public narrative being "i'm sad that particular person assaulted women" rather than "i'm sad women were sexually assaulted". nothing against you!

I know it's tough because you never know if it's just for the comedy. I took it like he was exaggerating gross thoughts that he has but would never actually do anything bad.

 

speaking of standup i'm still upset that kurt braunohler's latest never made it to streaming (was a comedy central special) because it is so good

 

I watch a lot of british comedy shows and this always kept being a recommended video and I finally watched it Tuesday night. Thought it was wonderful, though there are a couple of parts that are pretty cringey. On the whole, it deals with mental health, social anxiety, sexuality in a very thoughtful manner. If you can find his special called Numb, that's one I like the most.
