popped in the UHD for this tonight. it seems as though they included a bunch of the promos and ARG photographs on the disc as special features (haven't looked at the standard Blu-ray disc yet, but i imagine they're there too)
Ehhh, thought this was kind of a miss. Some good cinematography, but the story was pretty thin and I thought the acting was pretty lackluster. I usually ignore twitter reviews anyway, but the “most evil movie of all time” stuff seems absolutely laughable now that I’ve seen it. I did like the demon face behind the dolls when they are shrouded, thought that was effective.
Watched this last night. Fantastic thought-provoking movie. Something I haven’t seen anyone say yet is that this seems like an allegory for the way patriarchal violence creeps into the family through cultural brainwashing, but I’m still trying to unpack it. A lot of symbolism.
Everything in the first half esp dialogue wise was so forced. The last half completely fell apart. Loved the shots of the devil. Real spooky
The metal ball being inserted into creepy dolls that would manipulate electronics is interesting. IF IT MADE ANY SENSE TO LET GROTESQUE DOLLS AROUND YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
…………. I just thought it was an entertaining, eerie, little horror/thriller. Subtle. Artsy. Satan is bad. (Just watched it on Hulu)
I finally got around to watching Longlegs and it was…fine? Had I seen it when it initially came out I probably would have been super disappointed given the insane hype it had around it. I went into it tonight with almost zero expectations given I had heard from pretty much everyone that it was way overhyped. I liked the eerie tone of the entire film, and the way that it was shot made me constantly looking all over the screen waiting for something to pop up or cross my screen so it definitely had me on edge but at the same time the first half was painfully slow. I enjoy slow burns, but found myself slightly bored for a good portion of this. Reminded me of a poor man’s Mindhunter for a while. Definitely Fincher vibes throughout but didn’t come close to reaching the heights of a Fincher project. I am probably in the minority but thought it picked up a ton toward the end, even if I didn’t love the direction it went, at least I felt it started to get somewhere. Overall, just pretty OK.
