I'm glad I hadn't seen any trailers for this prior to going to see it. Just watched some of the trailers and if you haven't seen them yet, I recommend not watching them beforehand.

 

Damn, that's next-level movie marketing.

One of my favorite movies of the year

 

O'Shea and June Diane both stole this movie and I like that Maggie was right 90% of the time
Claudia O'Doherty and Paul Scheer doing Fox And Friends was fun
I wonder if the whole can TV stars become movie stars was a nod to Seth Rogen literally doing that haha
overall liked this but some qualms
no more fucking jokes about Britney Spears' mental health
Fred was clearly putting Charlotte on a pedestal and I'm not sure he ever saw her as a person so I'm not sure if I want them together
politically this was kinda weird, I guess Bob Odenkirk and Charlotte were Democrats, I was gonna say how is a dumbass who's basically a Republican gonna be the Democratic president but then I remembered oh right Joe Biden, also the whole Republicans and Democrats gotta get along and you need to sacrifice Environmental progress stuff was like oh no

 

How do you not mention Kurt Braunohler also on fox and friends. Cmon man.

 

That's probably the biggest example of the movie going a bit south for me

 

I couldn't figure out who that was haha, that's why

 

I didn't interpret so much as "getting along" as just being respectful about your disagreements (within reason obviously)

I dunno I wasn't expecting the political stuff to be like super important or accurate for me to enjoy a R-rated rom-com haha

Think they came up with it at the eleventh hour since they knew they couldn't call it Flarsky

 

This was a truly charming movie. I laughed throughout, especially at the Fox & Friends parody. Cast really sold it, and while some of the political humor was a bit on the nose, I guess it works because it feels all too familiar, ha. (Although it was very unclear why Odenkirk was elected from a fictional show to actual office... a little too broad, but it made for some funny moments.)

Strange thing in my showing was seeing two children under the age of 10 in the audience. Not only were they talking loudly, but this is a pretty hard R movie. I’m a little shocked that the parents couldn’t find a seat to UglyDolls, playing next door 15 minutes before this started. But okay, have fun explaining to your kid what that was that shot into Seth’s beard and why Charlize wanted to be spanked & choked

 

also something I just thought of Lisa Kudrow is in the first scene with June Diane Raphael who later talks about Jennifer Aniston making the pivot from TV to film
