that's a really good song and I love the guitar tone

 

Last album ruled. Hyped for this, though I don’t like the album cover.

 

“Sweetheart” is literally a perfect song. This is gonna be special.

 

this is gonna be a good fall album. will say I don't think it sounds very snail mail or soccer mommy ish. this is much more subdued and much dreamier than either of them imo

getting by is a really unbelievable song

 

I think “Sweetheart” definitely sound like those two, especially Soccer Mommy (same dreamy, wall-of-sound guitars imo) but the new single definitely heads somewhere more spacey (I guess like the last Japanese Breakfast kinda?)

Idk, the riyl isn’t supposed to be some concrete “this band sounds like this band!!!” thing, it’s just guidance for anyone that clicks the thread with no knowledge of the band.

I just feel like people might go in expecting a livelier record than it is tbh and might be disappointed. It’s definitely more in line with means to me as a whole, a bit spacier and sleepier (not in a bad way) than sweetheart might suggest

 

Seems like a pointless distinction to me really, an RIYL isn’t meant to be infallible but just a reference point, and using two bigger artists as that point of reference means it’s likely that more people will stumble on this as a result than be disappointed by it being maybe inaccurate

 

I highly doubt anyone is going to read that riyl and then be disappointed that this doesn't sound the exact same, I don't get it

Ahhhh this is great. Have never heard of her but I’m in love with this song

 

Their (her?) debut record is gorgeous

 

This is damn good. I loved Sweetheart inside of the first few bars

vocal melodies in the title track reminds me so so so much of some 90s radio pop song and I cannot think of what it is and its rly killing me

wow Empty Bottle into In The Morning is gorgeous. this is so good so far

 

Shit, going to be hard to listen with so much good stuff out today.

 

it's nice enough to open my window and it increased my enjoyment of this by 400000%
