Random thought that popped into my head yesterday but I'm willing to bet a good amount of money that Phoebe Bridgers headlines Lolla next year
I am an #old and not really in the pop world so I hadn't even heard of Chappell until this week and holy shit that crowd is insane. The only things I can think of close would be 07 Pearl Jam (only act playing on sunday closing out the festival) and 08 Radiohead (they were the only act playing at the time, same as pearl jam except it was on Friday).
80k is what I’ve seen as the estimate. Believe festival capacity is 115k. If those numbers are right, that’s 69.5% of all attendees for her set.
I was also at that show! Kind of expected it to be messy crowd-wise considering how I heard the NYC show went but it turned out to be beautiful.
People make fun of me for usually leaving two or three songs before the end. This is the exact reason why. Godspeed to anyone who has to deal with the remnants of the Metro audience, they were NOT fun to be around.
I went to a show at Northerly Island a few weeks ago and I had to walk like 30 minutes after itbwas done just to get to a spot where I could get an Uber. I should have paid the $40 for parking. I can't imagine how bad it was for an event like Lolla.
I’ve seen a lot of people on socials say they feel like they sold way more tickets this year to the point of it being unsafe? That the spaces aren’t big enough to get people out safely? Anyone agree or disagree? I’ve never been but I’ve seen like 10-15 posts and you guys always seem to be the pulse considering how many shows we all attend.
Lolla's twitter posted this photo of Sexxy Red crowd and dont remember seeing Bud Light this packed for a 5pm set
They upped daily attendance last year to 115k. Under the new contract with the city that’s the new daily cap every year moving forward
The only crowd I had to get out of from the front was Deftones, and that was comparable to Paramore back in Adjacent Fest. It truly felt like the crowd went on forever but it was really only five or so minutes of pushing past people. The Metro/Future crowd was awful though just because it smelled like a college locker room. The only reason I could see them getting cut off was for Vince Staples whose set started on the same channel 40 minutes into Parx's set. However, if that isn't the case, shame on them.
No dates for next year like they’ve done in the past immediately following the end. it will prolly be July 31st through August 3rd next year
The amount of people reporting sexual assault on Reddit is really gross. Sounds like A LOT of teenagers came in unsupervised from the suburbs. The demographic of this festival sounds awful. I’ll gladly take the non-city fests that require a bit more effort and money to get to.
