Weekend passes are still at the second tier. It’s a massive number of tickets or this festival is not selling at all. Assuming the latter as even the upsell packages are not going fast. I have to guess that we’ll get daily lineups this week.
The last few years it’s taken a while. 2019 it didn’t sell out of 4 day passes till like the week of or week before
Can’t believe Foo Fighters aren’t moving tickets from the younger crowd. Feels like they got all the wrong headliners.
Oh, I know. It’s in comparison to other festivals that announced that have sold well up to this point.
Isn't the impact of Foo Fighters as a headliner pretty much null and void when you look at Lolla's undercard? Your average Foo Fighters fan probably isn't going to want to drop however many hundreds of dollars and stand around all day to see the other 1-3 bands they want to see. And I would imagine they certainly aren't going to buy a 3-day pass.
I also think the 4 days of Lolla kind of ends up hurting it. It makes it more expensive and so much bigger of a commitment. It also hasn't sold out right away in several years, but it is kind of crazy that Riot Fest sold out quicker than Lolla.
Yeah the only people who can viably do all 4 days are high school/college kids. 4-5 nights in Chicago is expensive too, so that weeds out a lot of out-of-towers.
See this part I disagree on a little cus I feel like there's a ton of variety on the lineup. Ya I make it work but it sucks to have to use 3 PTO days when I'm not even going away anywhere. But it get's harder ever year to justify, and I can't imagine trying to make it work if I didn't live here with the prices of any hotel or air bnb.
I also think that people aren’t factoring in international travel. Lolla brings in a lot of people from over seas and no one knows that will look like come the end of July so that might also be hurting ticket sales
Good point about this and the international travel. Four days sucks a whole lot, too. Did we really gain much from the fourth day? I argue that we didn’t.
I'm always so dead by Sunday that it's borderline unenjoyable at least until later in the day when the sun starts to go down. 4 days was fun at first but I'd definitely welcome a return to 3. Ultimately though, it'll end up selling out (or close enough that the 4th day is still profitable) so I doubt it changes. I'm waiting on day by days to see if Thursday/Friday are even going to be worth taking off for
I know this is a larger issue but is getting a vaccine that difficult these days? I live in NYC which is the most populated area in the country (much less the world) and you can pretty much walk in without any appointment to any designated place and get one without appointment. Boggles my mind that this is a big ask for people.
Matt Rubano said he thinks AVA is playing on Saturday in a live Q&A the other day. He also said he doesn’t know if they are playing an aftershow or if aftershows will be a thing this year.
