So this has apparently been sitting in my advances for at least a couple days now and I just noticed. Currently in the middle of my first listen... thoroughly blown away.
If you guys do want more info feel free to ask any questions, and I’ll try to answer soon. Tbh though I’d agree with @atlas and say that it’s better I don’t spoil too much when we’re so close to it being out. So I’m gonna err on the side of still preserving surprises.
Can’t think of a metalcore album that’s impacted me this much in a long time. These guys are something special.
I finally got around to listening to their first album earlier and.... did not like it nearly as much. Seemed like they were going for the high pitched, belt-y home run choruses that most “metalcore” bands try to do these days and I’m just so over that style now. The more subdued singing on the singles is way more appealing to me, and not any less catchy either
Ditto. I actually actively dislike that sort of metalcore now. It's so uninspiring, devoid of anything that excites or even elicits any emotion from me. Can already tell this new album will be far, far better.
Man the hype is real for this one. Cant say I've been this excited for a new metalcore record in a hot minute. I also recently tried to get into their previous releases and only got a few songs into their last LP before I was done. Definitely the standard formulaic modern metalcore that I'm sure they're trying to avoid with this new record. Reminds me a bit of the the big change in sound My Ticket Home made between their first and second album.
I enjoyed the first album a whole lot, but I’m beyond keen to hear this one since they 1upped their game based on the singles
Came in the mail so I just gave it spin #1. Good fucking lord. Alternates between gorgeous and dreamy to mind bendingly heavy whenever it wants, at the drop of a hat. Was seriously not ready for how heavy some of these songs are. Strikes the perfect balance
Ima wait at this point. Glad reactions are great. @beachdude is Two Way Mirror isolated, or are there more tracks like that throughout?
Yep, overall I think this album is a great balance between the really crushingly heavy moments and melody without ever feeling formulaic.
