i have a 20 second recording on my phone of the same bit of the song but from my vantage point. i would've recorded the whole thing, but nobody knew it was coming, so i didn't get my phone out in time.

Somehow didn't know this thread existed which is insane considering I Let It In has creeped its way into my top 10 albums of all time. Anyways, I just got back from the Brooklyn show, which was an absolute whiplash moment considering I saw Loathe and Static Dress at that same venue back in December 2022. Static Dress absolutely crushed it, probably the best they've ever sounded. However, Loathe was on a whole other level. They broke out Banshee and the title track of I Let It In and they closed with both the new songs, the second of which (as you can see in the video) is so heavy it's almost comical. This next album is going to be massive.

 

the song with Jami Morgan is apparently dropping Wednesday, titled Gifted Every Strength

 

update: apparently it might not be happening tomorrow anymore? still a possibility of it going up at the same time globally, but one of the folks who said it was coming tomorrow (whose track record with new release announcements is pretty spot-on) is now indicating the plans have changed (according to correspondence with the source posted to Reddit)

 

This is a i'll believe it when I hear it situation when it involves this band.

 

Now reddit is claiming single is now coming in July lol.

 

that's fucking ridiculous, especially since it was ready to go for today. the people who claimed the song was dropping usually have a great track record with announcing upcoming releases (likely due to having some sort of backdoor access to DSPs), so i'm assuming they either changed the release date at the last minute or changed it a while back and the updated timeline didn't go into effect until a day or two ago. regardless, July is way too long

 

Change the name of this band to self-loathe

 

these guys seem to be a detriment to themselves at this point. this is getting kind of old, but at the same time, I'm not entitled to ever hear anything else from these guys. Just sucks that they're still so active, yet so unsure of their abilities that we don't get new music from them.

 

I've said for a while I think the length of time between music is a bad look, even though they are doing great tours.

 

people on Reddit speculate this delay was due to potentially wanting to release it after the tour instead of right in the middle of it, but i don't see how releasing it now could harm their momentum, and even if the delay isn't due to their abilities/self-confidence, it doesn't help that it's on top of a bunch of other delays that are likely due to those reasons

 

is it possible that it was never coming out today?

 

doubtful. the information was supposedly sourced from DSPs, and the folks who share it don't do so on speculation. it was probably scheduled for today at some point but changed along the way

 

Just another frustrating turn of events with this band. Hopefully all will be forgiven once the new music (finally) drops.

 

Either way, they're playing new songs live which is much more in terms of second album updates than what they were doing for the three years prior, so I remain excited. I'll just pretend we weren't supposed to be aware of any plans, and gladly hibernate until July (a lie, gimme the single now!!)

 

There has been such insane hype and mixed messaging and build up im afriad if this is anything less than stellar it'll backfire for them.

Yeah, this happens more often than most people think… release plans change last minute all the time. I’m bummed too but it is what it is.

 

Song is out on New Zealand, it’s the first song they’ve playing live since the start of the tour!

Incredible song. I shouldn’t have doubted that they’d be able to deliver. Feels so progressive for them, I love that sludgy groove so much.
