Remember the last time they released a new song and still haven’t followed it up four years later?

Still think it's insane its taken this long.

  8. Not the most in the loop with this band but I was under the impression the guitarist who left the band a while back was the driving force behind their sound, and it's part of the reason they've been taking this long to follow this up?

i've heard other people say this too, but i don't know how much of it was his influence. most of it very well could've been, but it always feels somewhat pretentious when people try to pin a band's sound on one person (that's not directed at you, btw, @Crisp X - just something i've seen in the past)

I’m pretty sure I’ve shared it here before, but I remember reading some interview with the band back in, like, 2022 and they said something along the lines of how they were working on new music, showed a new song to someone in a band that they’re friends with and were touring with at the time (I’m assuming it was Dimorphous Display) and the person basically told them “Sounds good for a demo” and the guys in Loathe were taken aback, scrapped everything, and started over

Had no idea the guitarist left

Was browsing their wiki page and apparently Kadeem and Erik were on a podcast back in December and said the new album has been recorded and is planned to be released this year

I think they were just blown away by the reaction to ILIIAITE, that they got huge writers block or pressure and lots of people harked on to the guitarist leaving being the reason versus them just scared/nervous

  15. The album coming out just before lockdown probably didn't help and they must've felt like they had to give it the touring time it deserved afterwards, all while figuring out the next creative steps.

Yeah, I would guess they viewed 2022 as the start of the touring cycle for that album considering they did little to none of that from 2020-2021. They also got some sweet offers too. Like, they just toured with Chevelle and Three Days Grace. Huge opportunity for them

This is a really densely constructed song; I’m sure everything listed above had an impact but really the vibe I have always gotten from these guys is that they are perfectionists and incredibly thorough and that’s what’s taking them so long lol

    Drew

Yeah I should reiterate that when I mean scared/nervous I’m referring to them taking a shit ton of time to perfect the material in their eyes

from Reddit. lyrics to the new song on a shirt being sold at their merch table. not sure if the song or album is called this, but the bottom reads For Only Real Exists.

  20. It's quite proggy, like if Opeth tuned their guitars down an entire octave. Interesting direction

can't say for sure, but they might've closed their Pittsburgh set with another new song with Jami from Code Orange? or it could be an older song, but i think Jami was with them either way.

yeah, Courtney said "did you guys like the new Loathe song with Jami?", so it was fun to have a confirmation from her, lol. the song was excellent too. really surprised to hear it after hearing that they ended each set with Gored.
