i’ve listened to a lot of eno’s solo, collab and band stuff, but not a ton of his production stuff, outside of some obvious picks. so i’m gonna do the lamb lies down on broadway finally. why is this 90 minutes lol.
for eno ive been listening to listen now by phil manzanera, in which eno is pretty involved. great record if youre intterested in eno stuff that has him more on the periphery
i’m gonna go with something else tomorrow. not that i’m afraid of being harsh on an album, or whatever, but found out after i started he only produced two tracks of the whole album, which i was only 1/4 of the way through with more than an hour remaining, and i wasn’t particularly enjoying lol. gonna do mixing colours that he did with his brother tomorrow. knock out a 2020 album at the same time.
I like that album quite a bit, but I never listen to it in one sitting. I rarely do with double albums. It was clearly meant as an expansive "opus" type of record.
Which ones? I tried listening to Pop Tatari a year ago and turned it off after three songs. Vision Creation Newsun is cool though
Making this my general quarantine music chat thread as well because it seems to have somehow kept out a lot of the dorks on the website. I'm listening to LCD Soundsystem for the first time. I started with This is Happening for no reason in particular. I really love most of the tracks on here. Pow Pow is a misstep, but the opener and All I Want and I Can Change are pretty perfect songs. I might jump back to the first few singles he released since that's where the buzz came from and then move on to Sound of Silver.
Somehow hopped over to World of Echoes by Arthur Russell. Having never heard of him or this album before, it's absolutely blowing me away. I haven't been hit like this by a new discovery in such a long time, wow. Ye goes on to sample one of the tracks on 30 Hours, which I guess is part of the reason more and more people are hearing about him.
gonna make a list of my 100 “fave”/best guitarists, bc i’m at this level of quarantine boredom. only listened to pulp’s different class today. what a record. not the overall best album of britpop but maybe has two of the top five songs.
I've considered doing a 25 or 50 myself, but then I'm always getting into new people. Like I never realized how great Robert Quine was until the last few months.
work sucked but i think i'll be able to catch up with this next week. gonna finish the guitarist list tonight.
