Lost in the Echo Probably my two favorite songs on the record though, with Burn it Down possibly being #3
Guys......Powerless is a good song but just a standard soft closer for the album, it doesn't even hold a candle to Little Things that Give You Away, Final Masquerade or Pushing Me Away. Lost in the Echo is so incredible though and has everything you love about LP in one song. I'll never forget getting the album and hearing it for the first time, I knew I was in for a treat and couldn't believe it wasn't the lead single.
Lost In The Echo Kind of a tough one for me...probably my favorite two songs on the album and both are pretty different. Just listened to each of them couple of times. Basically, Lost In The Echo I think is the band firing on all cylinders.
I'm still surprised it wasn't the lead single, honestly. Thought it was the most obvious choice. One of my favorite LP songs.
I mean, I feel like they made the right call. Lost In The Echo barely charted, whereas Burn It Down was one of their biggest singles.
Ehh it charted in the top 10 for rock songs. I wouldn't say that it barely charted. I think had it been the lead single from Living Things (more promotion, people anxious for new Linkin Park) it probably would have charted higher too.
Yeah, but it only hit 95 on the Hot 100, which is what most people consider when they talk about charting songs. Meanwhile Burn It Down hit the top 30 on the Hot 100 and went platinum (I think even 2x platinum, but don't quote me on that). It not being the lead single would work for some artists, but with a band like Linkin Park, where their biggest singles tend to not be the lead single (In The End, Numb, Breaking The Habit, Shadow Of The Day, Waiting For The End etc.), it's a hard sell for me. I mean, it might have done better than it did, but Burn It Down was the right choice for the lead single IMO
I don't disagree that Burn It Down was the right choice for the first single, I just don't think that Lost In The Echo should be so easily dismissed!
On the topic of Billboard charts, I've always been more interested in the rock and alternative charts for rock bands. It's cool to see songs by bands I like charting in the top 100, but I think the rock & alternative charts are pretty good indicators for rock bands. All that said, Burn It Down hit number 1 on those charts, so I think they probably made a smart choice!
Oh, I think Lost In The Echo was a good single to push to alternative/rock stations. In my ideal world, Burn It Down would have been treated as is, Powerless would have gotten a push in the US, and Lost In The Echo and Castle Of Glass would have gotten better promotion. Funny enough, though, Castle didn't even chart on the hot 100, but it's, like, their 5th most viewed music video or something. Just found that interesting.
In light of this score, I am going to run rule this round. Our champion winner is Lost In The Echo. I'll post the first AST round in a moment. However tomorrow is inventory at my work and anyone who works retail knows how big of a day that is. Can I count on @bachna84 and @truelovewaits to keep up with scores for me until the after noon??

The Messenger Wretches & Kings Robot Boy The Requiem Blackout When They Come For Me Burning In The Skies Waiting For The End Only tough matchup was When They Come For Me vs The Catalyst and man that's a ridiculously tough matchup. I'd hate to see Catalyst voted out in the first round but When They Come For Me is probably my favorite song on the album.
