I wouldn't really put stock into the following part, he's hasn't posted in years and I'm sure make it his followers have no idea they follow him still since he doesn't post

Two other very very very liberal celebs I follow still follow him, I can't imagine they have any idea they do still

Well, I mean that’s something, but the total omission of anything related to Scientology tells me she’s still part of that.

Fair; she and Danny’s ex wife Bijou Phillips follow each other as well (she’s also following Danny’s brother Chris & his wife).

The other possibility, which imo is not unlikely, is that she doesn’t want to directly speak out on Scientology given that organization’s LONG history of being abusive and vicious towards anyone who publicly criticizes them. Hypothetically if she had distanced herself from Scientology (I have no idea if she has or not) I feel like speaking out on it is a very personal choice which could have actual tangible consequences for her as a person, and I understand not making that decision lightly.

She was part of a big group of people from Scientology that all went together to support him at a pre-trial hearing… yes it sucks but also “the impact of her actions will be felt for years to come” seems a bit dramatic imo… HIS actions, absolutely. Her coming to one hearing as part of a group of supporters sucks for sure, but not sure the lasting impact of it…

I’m going to take her at her word as I think it’s completely plausible. I know I’m in the minority here but I feel bad that what should be a day of celebration for her and the rest of the band went the way that it did. I also trust in Mike Shinoda and the other guy’s judgement of character as I can’t recall anyone ever having a bad thing to say about them.

very interesting, that's certainly more damning... but at the same time, we don't want to tread into them being bad because he is, etc etc

The more I read about this, I think I’m with you. I might give this a chance because the Masterson thing bothered me the most, and the more I read about potentially denouncing Scientology, especially if you were born into it, the more I can understand someone not wanting to make a huge announcement to the world denouncing it. I think if you want to listen or enjoy this era of the band, we just need to put a little faith in the LP guys that they know what they’re doing.

I think the one thing that is worse than them coming to support is them harassing the victims

Scientologists give me the creeps after seeing how they stalk their victims, they killed Cedric's dog, they harassed the victims in that court case. I was excited but Emily is obviously part of that cult.

I feel like there's an important distinction between someone who joined a cult later in life and someone who was born into/raised in that environment for the formative years of their life that's worth taking into consideration here

i mean i absolutely agree with the impact of his actions for sure. what i meant by her actions was that she's been accused of directly intimidating some of Danny's victims - something she's obviously not gonna touch on in her statement. that's more than just her showing up to the trial. the victims are obviously gonna associate her with directly defending him, and regardless of what she said in that apology, that's probably not gonna right those wrongs for some people, particularly for the survivors.

To be fair, and maybe I'm misinterpreting, but doesn't Cedric's statement only state her group was harassing victims, not necessarily her specifically? Not that it makes too much of a difference, I guess.

the statement does say that, but suggests that she was allegedly part of that group, so obviously that isn't good either. i agree with others that this is probably the best statement she could've made given the circumstances of derailing an album cycle and her having nearly 40 years of conditioning by the church that's not so easily broken. we obviously don't know the minutiae of her involvement or thought processes like she does, so if she's truly remorseful for her actions and involvement with Masterson's gang, i hope she takes whatever steps needed to hold herself accountable and possibly get out. but with her parents being alleged PR mouthpieces for the church (mentioned in the Accountability thread, meaning she probably had some assistance from them here), it's hard to know whether she really has the remorse she claims to have. again, i want to believe she's telling the truth here, but i don't think we'll ever know.

Yeah, all things considered, I think this is all we're going to get and while it would be nice to have a statement from the band, I think it's going to boil down to taking them on trust.

I want to believe, considering all they've been through. I want this to be a triumphant return for them, and to believe they wouldn't have taken Emily on if they weren't sure of her as a person.

Or they're all scientologists now, whichever.

Their announcement about doing stadiums next year is super ambitious imo. Aside from all the controversy Emily has brought them, only 3 original members actually touring and fans already split on replacing Chester (before the controversy became mainstream), I think stadiums is going to be a very large ask.

It's four original members no? Brad is joining just wasn't on the original livestream. I know the Billboard report didn't have Mr Hahn but that's obviously changed.

EDIT: Just been corrected on this.

They've been gone a long time, so has the nostalgia value.

  25. Weren't they touring stadiums at some point in their original run? I'm not really aware of their previous size as I assume they had declined in the 2010s like many of their old peers
