They have a lot courage to do this because of the all the support they have. People...family, friends, and fans that believe in them/Linkin Park.

Man, what story to be told here with their legacy. Really looking forward to this interview.

Finished watching the stream and they definitely ended on a high I think.

It was awesome to see Mike and the rest of the band having such a blast up there. You can tell it meant a lot to them all. Mike just always brings his A game.

  3. Emily doesn't deserve nearly as much shit for the Scientology thing as she does for defending Danny Masterson.

There's a conversation on the LP Reddit about this with a decent number of people arriving at the conclusion that being a part of a cult that would cover up sexual assault is still a problem in and of itself.

My personal best case scenario is she confirms she's no longer with them, denounces Masterson, and makes the attempt to make amends for anything she had a hand in, whatever that looks like.

I also wasn't aware that Chester was a victim of sexual abuse, so some fans see this as a real spit on his memory.

Which is why it's so hard for me to fathom that LP knew anything about this. I can't bring myself to believe they'd knowingly do anything that would dishonor Chester.

iirc, she's a second generation Scientologist, so she's been inundated with the rhetoric since she was young. doesn't make her involvement right, just some context to consider.

I did wonder since Cedric's post called her a "born in Scientologist". I'm guessing that means going against her parents if she left?

that and probably everyone she knows. breaking away from that after nearly 40 years would probably be difficult (again that's not condoning her involvement with them or with Masterson)

per Reddit, apparently Chester's wife commented some hearts on one of their announcement posts yesterday, so maybe that lends a little more credence to people not knowing about her ties to Masterson? idk

Ok, I get what you’re saying, but I think it’s impossible to separate the Masterson thing from the Scientology thing. Pretty obvious to me that the cult indoctrination is what led to defending a rapist she knew through the cult.

i am seeing more news sources pick up on her connections, so i'm wondering if this might prompt some sort of statement somewhere down the line (although i sadly wouldn't be surprised if everyone stayed silent)

We reach for the longest shadow

She either makes a statement or it's radio silence, I don't see anything else happening. This feels like it's been years in the making, and they can't afford any derailments at this point. Everything's too calculated.

To be honest, Scientology will do everything it can to prop her up in LP. They’ll work to silence any dissent alongside the bands management.

The way they tout celebs and their accomplishments, this is huge for the church if she’s still involved.

I also wonder if she’s still involved with it or not

I couldn’t be more happy for them that they found a way forward. I really like the new single and thought Emily did a great job yesterday. I was super impressed with her on “Waiting for the end” and the emotion she sang with and keep going back to it. She crushed on the intro with Emptiness Machine!

I couldn’t fathom the pressure of having to follow in the footsteps of a legend like Chester Bennington but if yesterday was any indication I think the future is bright for them.

I don’t know much about scientology or her, so I’ll hold off saying anything.

I think she sounds really good on the new song though, which is a positive.

I would suggest watching a few documentaries about Scientology if you have this opinion. It's way worse than you may think

I would highly recommend watching Lioux Therouxs docs/movie on them. There was also a BBC Politics guy who done a documentary who actually ended up loosing the plot in an episode because of the harrassment he got off them. I think it was John Sweeney.

I personally think the song sounds generic too once she starts, I think this is turning into a hot mess, I hope for them the album isn’t recorded

The single was always going to be the "safest" song I think it's fair to say.
