It never was really reported, just had to see Cedric's post calling her out. People do not care about Dead Sara to report on it I guess.
She sounds good but, as it was mentioned by someone else, it feels like karaoke because Chester had such a singular voice. Not a knock on her but a compliment to him.
Agree with the uncanny Valley sound. It’s going to be nearly impossible to hear these songs again and not have Chester‘s voice imprinted on my brain. There is absolutely nobody who could change that. It is not a matter of talent. It is a matter of the point in my life in which I heard these songs and how much I can remember all of the feeling and sound around them. Hybrid theory and Meteora are without a doubt, two of perhaps the 20 albums I have listened to the most in my life, with the majority of those listens being front to back because they are so fucking good. I could likely play the album on drums without hearing a note and be within a few seconds of the entire runtime because I remember how everything sounds. And Chester‘s voice is an element that’s missing in that, and it’s never coming back. That is super sad. But it is unchangeable. I actually quite like the single and think she sounded much better as the songs went on, particularly on waiting for the end, numb, and one step closer. cautious optimism abounds
Linkin Park will always be Chester on vocals to me. It's no different than Blink replacing Tom years ago (under much different circumstances, obviously). I understand the rest of the band wants to continue on and it's an impossible position for the new singer to be put into and maybe they can create some memorable music together, but that's my initial stance.
The spirit of Chester is still there in the new song, which is so rad. Can totally hear his vocal melodies in it. Pretty excited about this new album now.
I actually dont mind the new single regardless of all the weird shit with the singers past.. I think she has a natural likeness to Chester. This is probably the first one since Minutes To Midnight that I didnt mind.
Not sure what you're referring to, but to my knowledge, Linkin Park has not released any soundtrack songs with anyone other than Chester and Mike.
I can definitely see why they chose her. She has a very Chester growl and screaming voice, harmonizes well with Mike and has energy. I can’t imagine, even if this was the unproblematic singer, making my debut with one of the biggest rock bands of all time on a livestream. I feel like she improved as she settled in and somehow didn’t blow her voice out. It just sucks she has a shitty past and maybe present. Hopefully she has to own up to it, but we know how this usually goes.
Controversy aside, that was fucking cool. Watched the entire stream while at my son’s soccer practice and I haven’t been much into LP in 12 years or so and there were parts of the stream I got emotional. Mike looked like he was having a fucking blast. Quite obviously, nobody can ever replace Chester but I thought Emily held up pretty well. Thats pretty close to a no-win situation for whoever was tasked with filling in.
My guess is that Brad got sick with COVID or something fairly recent or a family emergency and Alex (the fill-in) is their guitar tech. Just my guess.
