I'm sure my story is a similar one. I got Meteora as a holiday gift, I forget if it was my birthday or Christmas. Anyway, my music taste at the time was very limited, mostly alt rock radio stuff, so I know I liked Creed, Default, maybe Audioslave too? Linkin Park quickly became my favorite band. I had an older kid in my youth group at church burn me a copy of Hybrid Theory, I bought the Live In Texas CD/DVD, and got Reanimation. Totally obsessed with them, but as things do when you're a kid, my music taste was evolving quickly. By the time Minutes to Midnight came out in 2007, I was already knee deep in bands that would become all time favorites, like Coheed, Circa Survive, Opeth, Protest the Hero, etc., and was just not willing to "stoop down to listening to radio rock" again.
I stopped at Minutes To Midnight as a teenager but then felt really bad about tossing them aside after Chester passed. I did a deep dive on their discog and it's better than I was lead to believe
Still remember how confused I was on my initial listen of A Thousand Suns. For those who stopped keeping up after their early records, I’m curious to read their thoughts on that one.
why not sneak in a little ranking before tomorrow..... Hybrid Theory Meteora A Thousand Suns Hunting Party One More Light Living Things Minutes To Midnight
Meteora Hybrid Theory A Thousand Suns Living Things Minutes To Midnight The Hunting Party One More Light
Unimpeachable: Meteora Hybrid Theory A Thousand Suns Terrific: Minutes to Midnight Living Things Fine: One More Light Not For Me: The Hunting Party
It's the other way around for me; their songs did not age well. The rap is mediocre by today's standards and, just, like, it's really anime-nerd 4 me.
Recharged is... not too good, just your typical 2010s remix album with a lot of really basic remix stuff. I remember a handful of decent mixes off it but that's it Reanimation basically feels like the 2nd Linkin Park album to me. you can tell they were all really involved with it and put it together thoughtfully. actually flows better as an album than Hybrid Theory imo
Alright I’ll give Réanimation a listen later. Think I’m only familiar with the song that features Staind’s singer
the song with Black Thought on it going into the High Voltage remix blew my mind as a kid, that transition is filthy
It feels like such a grown up album coming back, loving the vocal harmonies throughout, and the hopeful lyrics, like even though life has worn us down we keep marching forward, it ends nicely with the messenger.
Meteora Hybrid Theory A Thousand Suns The Hunting Party Minutes To Midnight Living Things One More Light Side-eye me if you dare!
