I threw on Hybrid Theory a few times when they had the anniversary for that a couple of years back, and I decided to put on Meteora when I was at the gym this week. First of all, what a great little nostalgia trip. Second, what a freaking gym album.
Rip Chester. 6 years tomorrow. I miss lp so much. Band got me through so much shit back in the day and helped reshape my musical tastes and what I listen to now
Yeah, Linkin Park were the gateway for a lot of people who were into rock in the earlier 00s and I was no different. Miss Chester / the band. Cool to see Mike continue to be a positive force though.
I remember the painful 00s days in more metal online circles where Rob's drumming and Linkin Park would get shat on for being "too simple" or watered down or something. Looking back, I've always loved how much he relied on the hit hats for the choruses instead of going for the cymbals like I imagine tons of other bands would do instead. Probably helped the other instruments shine instead of being more drowned out. Don't know much about drum terminology so I don't know how to explain myself more clearly, but that's something that always stuck when listening to their early stuff.
i get what your saying, less is more essentially (im a drummer) but yah big band with a lot of members, gotta leave room for everyone to do their thing!
I thought the song he recently wrote for Demi Lovato and the other recent collab I'm blanking on the name of of were very Linkin Park (Minutes To Midnight era) sounding too, so I'm happy to see him continue in that direction. Also this is something he brings up in this new interview done by @Mary V https://killyourstereo.com/features...er-linkin-park-interview/vZ8D0dDT0tU/06-10-23
I was SO happy he brought it up - my next question was actually about the song resembling some Minutes To Midnight vibes and stuff
Vocals + Rhythm Guitar: Bonnie Fraser (Stand Atlantic) Rhythm Guitar: Tash Wolf Lead Guitar: Mitchell Black Bass: James Karagiozis (Between You & Me) Drums: Daniel Furnari (Polaris)
Wow, no idea who these other people are (I have heard of their bands), but Bonnie did, in fact, crush that.
