Just revisited A Thousand Suns for the first time in years. And wow. This is really their best work. Only album I don't dig is Hunting Party
I don't know if they would do it. They seem to have some disdain for their early stuff, Meteora in particular. They've said Easier To Run is easily their least favorite song they've done, Chester recently called it a "product of Hybrid Theory's success" (or something to that effect), and they really only play Numb and Faint from that album consistently anymore. They throw in the other singles sporadically, but those are the only mainstays.
numb faint from the inside and breaking the habit were all played during different parts of the hunting party tour
From The Inside and Breaking The Habit were only added on the last legs of the tour, and From The Inside hadn't been played since summer of 2012. You also didn't include Somewhere I Belong, which was played on the summer/fall leg in one set. Like I said, they throw in the other singles every now and then, but Numb and Faint are the only two that are consistently played.
Same, Easier to Run and Breaking The Habit both felt like really cool stylistic adjustments from the debut album
Technically Dirt Off Your Shoulders/Lying From You, but sure. Again, though, that was a promotional single. The last "deep cut" to be played was Don't Stay, and that's been gone for close to a decade now. They don't even have the baritone guitars they need to play Don't Stay or Nobody's Listening anymore.
They play whatever they feel like playing. I've seen them 7 times now I think and I haven't been disappointed once with their set so... but it would be amazing to get a hybrid theory/metorea full album tour both have been out for 10 plus years
Just listened to A Thousand Suns for the first time and it's a cool album. Definitely different from their other stuff
The one where they dumbed down one of the best DJs to key jingles? I dunno, it has some great songs on there but also a ton of slow moments. Ends with two of their best songs though. I'm with you, even though it is a copy of HT. Yep! I thought Lying From You, Breaking the Habit and Somewhere I Belong were staples on must tours since the album dropped. And Easier to Run is just a copy of Crawling song structure and line delivery wise. Same thing with Don't Stay and One Step Closer, so I get if they have to play the ones from Hybrid Theory why they wouldn't want to play the copies.
Super hard but......... Meteora > Living Things > Reanimation > Hybrid Theory > A Thousand Suns > Minutes to Midnight > Hunting Party I love it all though, I'm probably in the minority that loves Hunting Party too.
I know it was a pretty divisive album, but A Thousand Suns is my absolute favorite by them. Great concept album that really got them out of their comfort zone. A Thousand Suns > Hybrid Theory > Meteora > Minutes to Midnight > Living Things > Hunting Party
For me what keeps ATS from being higher is the amount of filler/interlude tracks. It was jarring my first time listening. By track 8 there are only 4 real songs lol. This album definitely has lasting power though and I don't see that ever changing.
I remember hating the closer, Chester sounded so bad on it. Idk if it was his voice or just the production choices but it sounded like a shitty local band covering Guns' Roses or something predictable like that.
You talking The Messenger? No way. It's beautiful and his voice sounds raw. If anything I want more of it
Yeah that one, either way it's been too long since I gave that album a listen. I'll do another one soon
