Ehhhhhhhhhhh Minutes To Midnight has too much like, broad drawn out cheeseball for me to call it my favorite. Still a ton of good of course, but not my fav
Probably in the minority, but Meteora still is my favorite. Yeah, it's basically a copy of their debut album, but it doesn't sound dated like that one, and Chester blows my mind with his performance throughout the whole thing. Dude and Mike know how to write a catchy hook. It's such a blast front to back. Moreover, some of the chillest songs hinted at what they would do on the later albums. I still miss the guitar tuning and the wall of guitars sound they had on it. Don't Stay's intro still catch me by surprise due to how perfect the production is, especially the guitars. They just sound massive.
Minutes To Midnight was the last one I bought and the last one I listened to. I'll have to check out A Thousand Suns.
I feel like A Thousand Suns is the one I come back to the most, but Hybrid Theory and Meteora are my favorites. I think I just played them both too many times when they were new.
Hybrid Theory and Meteora are pretty easily my least favorites from these guys. There are some solid tunes on them (From The Inside, Breaking The Habit, With You, Papercut, My December), but they just don't stand up to stuff like A Thousand Suns and Minutes To Midnight.
I'm with you dude. Meterora sounded like a band that was really knowing what they were trying to do. Watching the accompanying DVDs with it, its so exciting to see this young band discovering these samples and idea and making them work
agreed on every last point. i said it somewhere else but the last several albums just feel completely scatterbrained and aimless to me.
Also, Living Things is my second favorite because it blended every style they had pulled off during their career at that point.
Let's do some ranking folks ! Meteora > Living Things > Hybrid Theory > Minutes To Midnight > A Thousand Suns > The Hunting Party
Oy I'm gonna have to give the most recent ones a thorough, concentrated review. For now meteora > HT > M2M > everything else
Meteora > hybrid > living things > minutes >> thousand suns > hunting (I've only listened to it once so have to go last, I have no idea why only once cause I listened to all the others in the hundreds and dozens)
It's tough for me to rank because the first two albums were so important in a musically historic way in my personal life, so I don't think I could rank based on which are the best, but rather only on the ones that meant the most to me.
I think I probably did that too. I know A Thousand Suns is groundbreaking. But it doesn't tickle my pickle like others
Most hyped I've ever been was when I saw them in junior high and they opened with Don't Stay. First that beat kicks in then the opening riff. MOSH.
They did Hybrid Theory front to back I think, as far as I know they've never done the same for Meteora.
Who knows, maybe they'll do a tour for its 15th anniversary in 2018. Plus it is only 30 mins long right ?
