Ahh those making of Meteora videos. I remember they would release a video on their site once a week leading up to the album. Had me so hyped.
My mom took me to Target to buy Meteora the day it came out and I got the deluxe version. I watched the making of DVD so many times. That was also around the time I got my first MP3 player. It was 128mb and i could fit Meteora on there and nothing else lol. My mom actually posted a pretty touching eulogy on Facebook the other night. She said something to the effect of "as your kids grow up, their music becomes your music whether you like it or not, and linkin park became one of my favorite bands."
I listened to A Thousand Suns for the first time in a long time today on a mid afternoon drive and it still holds up even after my tastes have evolved a fair amount. I still like it a lot. Man I love Waiting For The End and The Catalyst.
HT came out when I was 15. I remember someone burned it for me when it came out but wasn't really into it at all. It was way too heavy for my liking (at the time didn't listen to anything with screaming). A few months later, I remember being at a high school party and In The End came on (before it was released as a single) and I remember being like 'who is this? This is incredible" and my friend said 'Linkin Park, I burned you their album a few months ago' and I went back to it and just fell in love with it. Then I saw them open up for Staind and STP in 2001 on the Family Values Tour and they just blew me away even more. From then until about 2010, I was so super into Linking Park. Absolutely adored Reanimation (so underrated), Meteora, Minutes to Midnight (my personal favorite) and A Thousand Suns. Saw them a few more times during that span. Even my mom became a huge fan and went to one of their concerts in Las Vegas (where my sister lived at the time). For whatever reason, I just kind of lost interest in them after A Thousand Suns. I did purchase Living Things, and like a handful of the songs on there. Around the time One More Light came out, for whatever reason, I started really getting back into their discography and remember how much I loved those first five albums. Needless to say, I've been listening to LP nonstop for the past 5 days.
I just put Hybrid Theory on and shit, I forgot how about how much of a jam Points Of Authority is. FORFEIT THE GAME BEFORE SOMEBODY ELSE TAKES YOU OUT OF THE FRAME
True. I feel Easier to Run encapsulates everything I now know about Chester and his past that I didn't previously know.
Yea, going back and listening to the lyrics is spooky. I never realized how dark and depressing they were.
When the album came out I loved Faint, but once it became a single it would play on Fuse like 1000 times a day. That summer I would wake up and watch music videos from 9am to like 2pm and I swear I'd see that video like 10 times. I haven't watched that video in 14 years and I still can picture it frame for frame lol.
