They are releasing some kind of movie next year in theatres. Looks like it will be the live show from tonight/tomorrow in Brazil
This "cheesy" talk is making me crave a cheesy ass pizza. Also the new album is decent but I doubt i'll go back to listen to it much.
I've said it maybe three times already, but Emily's screams at times on the album sound very cheesy... to me. Cheap or low quality: For example, you might describe a watch bought from a tourist vendor as cheesy. Synonyms of "cheesy" in this context include "bum", "cheap", "crummy", "punk", "sleazy", and "tinny". Done in an exaggerated and probably not sincere way: For example, you might describe a smile as cheesy.
“cut the bridge” is just a really bad imitation of “bleed it out” and “faint,” but without the former’s distinct guitar lick or the latter’s unforgettable synths. this is extremely flat and lifeless in comparison and it’s so obvious what they were trying to do but it hurts how short they come up. a bad omen for the rest of this I fear
There are definitely some duds here but after my first couple listens I overall found it pretty enjoyable and it was easily my best first impression in a really really long time. It feels pretty cohesive, it sounds like what I’d expect a linkin park reunion to sound like, if a bit fan service-y. I’d agree Mike seems to be the weak point, and the production feels thin; Emily doesn’t have a very commanding, attention grabbing voice (maybe it’s production idk) either but I think she sonically fits perfectly. Don’t usually do this but since some songs seem divisive and it’s short I’ll go track by track: Emptiness: great comeback song, I like it a lot. Vocal melodies are great throughout. Cut the bridge: the thinnest sounding song, it just sounds bad. Mike’s presence in the chorus really drags down the song. Emily is fine, no issue for me there. Heavy: v good Over each other: Emily takes control and knocks it out of the park here, this is top 2-3 for me. Casualty: don’t think this one’s very good. Emily’s screaming is fine but this one also just sounds hollow to me, hate the guitar tone Overflow: heh I’m not sure what I think of it. I think I like it. 2 faced: I don’t like it as much as most do, mostly because of the chorus Stained: dig this one, the melodies are fun IGYEIH: love this one, another good Emily showcase Good things go: fantastic, the artistic peak of the album overall I think they exceeded my expectations but I was really jaded by most of their post-M2M releases. The approach was a safe and solid one and it makes me wanna see em live again. Probably won’t go down as one of my AOTYs, I think they would’ve needed to really do something different to achieve that status, but as I alluded to before idk how much I’d like that product.
Feels like a weird funnel to listen to music through. I either like something or I don't; I don't feel compelled to not like something because of other faff.
It’s a greatest hits album with songs that are substantially worse than the actual greatest hits. I’m sure it’s for somebody but it isn’t for me
kindest thing i can say about this album is the closer is kind of okay. only track id even remotely consider revisiting again
this is definitely Living Things Redux (derogatory). both just having that going through the motions feeling that makes me feel disengaged just listening to them. pretty wild that most of Mike's recent solo singles, to me, clear most of this album handily (In My Head, Open Doors and fine namely) Emptiness Machine and the closer are pretty good though. whichever song did the copy-pasted One Step Closer breakdown with the "stop yelling at me" lyric substitute, that was very bad
Weird seeing people say this is their worst when One More Light exists. Not sure i ever made it through a full listen of that album since it's so dull and boring.
